CV Axle or Tie Rod??????

Recently, my 95 3.0 SR5 has developed a habit of shaking badly and pulling hard left at around 60 mph. The problem first happened last week and not again until today on my way from work. There is some play in the driver side tie rod compared to the passenger sides amount of play. There is also a tear in the cv boot on both sides. They still have some grease and I planned on replacing the boots soon. Wondering if I waited too long to get the boots on??????

Pulling to the left is from your tie-rod(s). There shouldn't be any play in your tie rods. Now that there is play, your left tire is toed out making your truck pull to the left. When your CV's are on their way out you will hear a clicking noise, more on corners than straight. Better to fix it sooner than later.

To save yourself some money, replace the tie rod yourself and get it as close as you can to straight. Then take it in to get it aligned.

You said that your going to replace the CV boots......when you do that your just trapping all the old dirt and sand, that will wear out the joint FAST.
As much as it is exspensive i would buy to brand new CV axles and RR them.

Is it possible that the wheel bearings could cause the shaking and pulling. I had three people (shade tree mechanics) look at it and they said the tie rod seems fine. The passenger tie rod has definetly been changed already. If it is the tie rods, how hard is the replacement? :beer:

Tie rod end's aren't hard, however you will need to measure the old one before you take it out and set the new one the same way, so the alingment will be close.
