So the guys that installed my Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift kit stretched my front two wheel speed sensors and tore one of my front inner CV boots!
Ive got my ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF and BRAKE lights all on!
Im hoping that the speed sensor wires just broke somewhere and I can find it and repair it myself. Ive heard from a few other guys that have done that, or just ordered new wires.
Of course the dealership wants $775.00 to replace both sensors, and $275.00 to replace the CV boot. Not to mention they charged me $100 just for them to look at it! I talked to them again today and the guy said even if it was just the wires and not the actual sensor, sometimes the wires can be pulled out of the sensor, in which case the whole sensor would have to be replaced anyway. The dealership said it was pretty clear that whoever did my lift messed this stuff up. I guess I should have just paid the dealership $500 bucks to put that tiny spacer lift in, instead of taking it to my buddy's "shop". When it comes to replacing the CV boot some people have said just replace the whole CV joint, or just do the whole axle. Im not sure what to think about that. I did buy the extended warranty but since the damage happened when installing the aftermarket lift, it would not be covered obviously.
Anyway, Im going to pull one of those sensors soon and see if I can find a break in the wiring or anything. Ive heard a few people talking about replacing the gas cap but that dosent seem like it would really apply here seeing as how ALL of those lights came on directly after the lift was installed.
I dont really want to pay the dealership to do all this but I need to get it repaired and it seems a bit out of my range of ability. Maybe Midas or some other shop would do the CV boot for cheaper, I dont know. I would prefer to have the dealership do it but those prices are just ridiculous.
