I just recently bought a 03 runner 4x4 and the 12v outlet does not work on the centre console and the DAC does not turn on, I have tried it in 4L still will not come on... any ideas what I can check before taking it to a dealer.... which i would rather not do.... I have not checked any fuses yet do you think that could cause this possibly.

Thanks in advance for any help....

I would think the 12v would easily be a fuse. Look in the owners manual for the fuse map and pull it. Thats a super easy fix. Same thing happened on my mom's car, and the dealer wanted 80 bucks just to diagnose the problem, I fixed it for her with a 2 dollar fuse.

As far as the DAC, does the little icon flash on your dash? Or does nothing happen at all?

Nothing happens at all, I figure the bulb in the dash is good cause when I turn the ignition on the it lights up, with everything else.

maybe the 12v outlet was unplugged inside the console by the other owner, if they removed it they may have forgotten to plug back in.

I had same problem even when I bought my 05 cirtified SR5. Toyota parts dept told me its bad wire (Most of the 4 runner lighter wire are bad and they know it) So talk to toyota parts and they will take care of you.

12V outlet is definitely a fuse. I have my radar detector hardwired thru the same fuse. Just open the fuse box cap under the steering wheel and check the schematic. It is one of the ones on the right and down.

as far as DAC, make sure you are activating it correctly. As mentioned above, check the manual, try again, report back.

Definitely check the plugs under the console like Chaz said. If an aftermarket stereo is installed or any dash light bulbs had to be changed those are likely to have been unplugged to get to them. You can get easily get to the plugs by lifting up where the side of the console meets the storage compartment.

Thanks guys for the replies.... got a second today to check it fuses are good, removed console cover.... and what do you know both the 12v nd DAC where not pluged in, so put it back together and all works 100%...

Quick question though on that same harness is two white connectors that where not connect either any idea where these would go....

thanks guys

I have the same plugs on my 4Runner. They aren't plugged into anything. I have seen other discussions on here about these plugs.
