DAC button constantly being turned on by our dog

So our lil dog isn't really used to car rides and she runs from the passenger to the driver back and forth looking out each window barking at everything that moves. She's always been this way but the 4runner is new to all of us and she constantly steps on the DAC button so I am constantly turning it off. Are there any dangers or possibility of damaging something because of this? I'm considering rerouting the button to the dashboard.

My little dogs do the same thing so I drive around with the armrest tray open whenever I have them in the Runner. I have my led light buttons mounted there too so I used to drive around unknowingly blinding other drivers thanks to them.

Have you thought of relocating the button? Not hard to do. You will have to reroute the wires (more than likely add wiring, again, not difficult). I relocated some of my buttons to/from the center console to/from the lower driver's side of the dash.

Lol she still steps on it with the center console thing folded out. I'll reroute it after my dash gets replaced.

Ditto. Takes maybe 2 minutes tops and no tool involved.

Seems like the best solution so far or replace the switch with a covered one. Any body know of a link to a covered switch that fits in that location?

Just as an FYI, the DAC system only operates in 4LO, so under normal driving conditions it doesn't matter if your dog steps on it or not.

Doing nothing works for me.
Our little dog does it quite regularly till she settles down for the ride. Hasn't hurt any thing in many a mile.

I'd be more concerned about the dog being in the driver's seat distracting the driver of the vehicle than I would be the button.

Why not restrain or kennel the dog if you can't teach it to sit still?

dog shouldn't be in the front seat anyway, if the airbags go off it could kill your dog

As I always say, either you train your dogs, or they'll train you. It sounds like your dog has you trained really well. Too bad you don't get any treats out of the deal. ound:

I have two, sometimes three Beagles in my 4R,
so opening the lid for the armrest is the easiest way to keep them in the back seat.

1.) The DAC light will just blink but not engage unless in 4lo anyway so just press it again to turn off.
2.) Relocate the button to the dash, I've read that if you cut back all the loom the factory wires are actually long enough, I just cut the factory pigtail off and made an extension harness for mine. Works great.

Get your dogs a seat belt so they sit still. I love my dog but i'd be so aggravated if he was running around the entire car like that.

Yeah she has a harness and a seatbelt now to keep her in check. I didn't raise that dog she's already 10 and full of her own bad habits. My dog goes in the back when I tell him and even uses the damn armrest when he looks out the window.
