DAC Switch Bulb is out

Yeah, i know, "so what! That's not that important!", ..but it's buggin me.

The bulb that lights up the switch is out. Ive checked Partznet, but there's only a new switch ($53.25) or a part next to it labelled, "Bulb Seat Heater Switch".

Am i going to have to buy a whole new switch in order to have a working light behind it?

No you can buy a replacement bulb. With my experience these bulbs can only be bought off the internet or at your local dealership, but I'm not 100% sure. I recently replaced 3 bulbs (one of which was the bulb you have burnt) at a total of $40, not cheap but like you, IT BUGGED ME! lol. Good luck

i am looking at it right now:

90010-01088 - this one is a short red bulb, and will also fit in the tailgate window switch

for some reason, once you start pulling your dash apart, random bulbs start burning out. and they're all kinda different, especially near the HVAC panel.

OMG I couldn't agree more. Its BS and I dont understand it but everytime (and I mean everytime) I pull an interior panel off that that has a light of some sort, at least one is garanteed to be burnt upon reinstall of the panel. It pisses me off so much. When I bought my truck 3mths ago, 1 interior light was burnt, since the couple of interior mods I've done I've had to replaced 5, 3 of which I did this past week, I now have ANOTHER burnt one, its ridiculous!

I have learned my lesson and last time I just made one big order. I have an assortment of spare bulbs now.

when I got the truck, the light in the transfer case switch was out. I didn't even realize it should illuminate until I started replacing dash bulbs. by the way, the short red bulb fits that, some of the switches, and the tailgate window switch. some bulbs are interchangeable and some are not.

He bulbs themselves are stupid as hell when it come to working in general, as well as replacement. A perfect example is my wife's 2003 4runner. When i gave it to her the LED's that illuminate the hvac fan speed control were out. When she got in it for the 1st time as its owner, they lit rite up! WTF!

My DAC light goes out every once in a while, but I just give it a swift thump and it comes back on and last like that for a while

My gear selector and cupholder lights where like that, they would be off and then I'd shift into drive and they'd come on, eventually I had to smack the panel, after a week or so of that, they stopped working completely. I've since replaced which in the process of doing burnt my RAS switch bulb magically! :ybrick:

Thanks for the info and I couldn't agree more. I just swapped my head unit and now the bulbs for the multi function display are out as well as the rear window switch bulb. Makes no sense. I wonder if it could be static? I was getting in and out a few times during the install. Plus I didn't disconnect the battery either. Still very frustrating either way.

my driver side heater dial backlight is the same way. Wont come on sometimes, and sometimes hitting it wont help. I gotta pull up the console lid and pop the switch out and re-clip it gently.

I had similar experiance with my heater controls. The wires on the bulbs are tiny.

I think next time I have an issue I will shine up the circuit board the bulbs screw into with a pencil eraser and put some conductive grease on them (lightly).

I use a product called NO-OX-ID on grounds and my battery terminals that works great in these type of applications.
