Where are you getting the 8x times better number? To buy a well condition third gen is probably going to cost like 10k (probably could have to fix something) and it’s still around 20 years old at this point. You can buy a 5th gen for probably around 25k with 4wd and etc I’m pretty good shape.

You're right. I have around $10k into my 2wd 01. Granted, I have the drive train of a new T4R (minus the trans), but it's still 19 years old. I plan on driving it until I can't drive anymore but I'd love to have a new one. Or rather a good used 5th gen with low miles.

The other day I saw two Model T pickup's. Wooden spokes and all. Now obviously these are not daily drivers but they were still on the road on a nice Saturday at a local car show. They were driven in. If those 100+ year old Fords could still drive then I think I can make this "old" 01 T4R last another 20+ years.

Scotty Kilmer is quite smitten with this 2011 5th gen. I agree with him. Looks to be a nice ride.

I got super lucky and someone brought in their white/moonmist 99 5 speed runner into my work with 19k miles. Literally like walking into the Toyota dealership 20 years ago to pick up your brand new 4Runner. Mightve been once in a lifetime.

My buddy is a tech at my local Toyota dealer. The other day he sent me a snap showing me the 5-speed 1997 SR5 he was changing the oil on. Had 20k or so and had plastic on the seats still.
