ok, thanks for the clarification..cos i had the same probllem on my spare tire...tried pliers..it didnt work as i was very careful not to break the stem..what i did was spary wd 40 and left it for about 2wks while i applied wd40 abt every 3days...then i used a small saw to make a slight shallow vertical cut on the stuck cap, after which i then 'peeled' out the cap cover from the stem...thus saving myself the $101 tpms cost, inflated my spare tie to 40psi.and checked the other tires, they are on 37psi.yet the tpms ..then observed that my front right tire has a black rubber valve...not the metalic oem type, thus apparently the previous owner replaced the valves with the rubber type..which i suspect doesnt hv a sensor, thus am stuck with the lights on my dash
