Dark/Charcoal Cloth Interior

Can anyone in here advise re. which 4Runner years/models offered the dark/charcoal cloth interior? (obviously not the Limiteds). I haven't yet found the answer on any of the auto sites. Everytime I scope 4Runners SR5s/Sports for sale, they seem to all have the light-medium grey interiors - I really want a darker interior.

The darker interior is part of the 'Sport' Package, don't know when they started offering it but I thought I saw 'em from '06, maybe earlier.The darker interior is part of the reason I bought the SE, (Sport Edition.)

When I sold my silver 3rd gen with the camel (tan) interior, I was a little disappointed with the black/ charcoal interior in my '08 Sport. Other than the fact that it hides my black dog's hair very well , I really miss the lighter interior. When I close the sunshade, it's so dark I feel like I'm in a cave.

I too think the dark/charcoal cloth interior on the Sport started in 2006...because the pre2006 look lighter.

Maybe someone w/ a 2003, 2004 & 2005 Sport can all each confirm this w/ pictures.

The charcoal in the 2003-2005 was definetly lighter in those years. 2006+ parts of the seating areas are solid black.

I work at a car dealership and we just took in on trade a 2003 Sport Edition with dark cloth seats, they had a sort of square checkered pattern to them, but they were predominantly black.

Wow, yeah the newer sport seats are definitely nicer. Fortunately I have seat covers or I would be pretty bummed out.

You have a 2004 Sport, is the interior this color? Because the 2006+ are jet black, where they are not checker patterned

Damn, I was leaning toward a 2005 4Runner because of the cleaner, less chunky style of fenders, but then I won't get the darker interior. :sobbing: Time to start a thread on seat covers . . .

I have black wet okole's with gray piping and am very pleased with them. They are pricey though.

Thats what I've got in my 05 Sport too. I like the darker seats but like what I have better then the black ones in the 06 + models. The only thing I hate about the seats is how the dog hair sticks to them, so I have to keep the back seat covered with a sheet.
