Dash and gear shift lights

I have a 1999 Limited automatic.
I put in a new radio recently.
When I was finished, I noticed that the automatic gearshift does not have lighting when I turn on the headlights. The gearshift usually has lights so you can see what gear you are shifting into, right? Obviously I can see the gear indicator in the instrument cluster so it is not a huge deal. Nonetheless, I would fix it if I knew there was supposed to be a light there.
After discovering this (probably) broken light, I realized that the hazard light button and the rear window up/down switch on the dashboard do not light up. Do these buttons usually have lights that come on when the headlights come on?
Obviously I could figure this stuff out by opening up the dash, but I would rather not do that any more than I have to.
Thanks.

I have a 2000 SR5 and the lights on my instrument panel that indicate gear are always on regardless if my headlights are on or not. I assume they should be the same for yours too. As for the rear window and the hazards, they don't light up for me, so no worries there.

Yes. The gear shift indicator, the hazard switch, and the rear window switch are all supposed to light up when the headlights are turned on. The gear shift is #74 and the window switch is a neo-wedge A iirc. No idea what the hazard switch bulb size is

I hate to bring up an old thread but I have this same issue on my 2000 Limited.

Was it a case where the bulbs were just burnt out? Or wiring or a fuse?

Similar issue

I’m having a similar issue on my 1999 where the “D” light doesn’t illuminate on the dash but all other lights for the transmission do. AND sometimes the lights displayed on the gear selector handle and on the dash are out of sync with the actual chosen gear.

Thoughts??

Probably two separate problems. The drive light in the dash is most likely the bulb, but the dash and shift lights out of sync is an issue with the shift mechanism and the position sensor
