Dash area fan noise help

2004 4R 4x4 SR5

Could use some help here please:

I'm getting an unusual whirring type noise in the right side dash area. Already changed air cabin filter and checked squirrel cage and fan motor area for leaves etc.
Before I start tearing things apart is there another fan motor of any kind under this dashboard? noise is very obvious and not normal. I am also going to pull fuses to kill the fan and try to isolate the noise first.

It's probably the blower fan going bad, there's nothing else under there. I'm pretty sure its just a few screws on the bottom to remove it.

Get a mechanics stethoscope and pull the glove box (5 or 6 screws) and listen to anything around the ECU. There is a blower and some A/C plumbing in there. Very likely blower fan bushings or bearings going bad.

Because the blower is on the bottom of the stack, I think you might be able to get to it from underneath, without removing anything other than the glove box lid. Not certain, though.

Dash Fan Noise

I had a problem like that last year and finally discovered a mouse had built a nest in fan cage and around it. Chewed up the cabin filter as well - bits and pieces all over the place. Took a few cleanings to get it all out and then I sprayed a whole bunch of lubricant (non greasy type - can't remember the name) in the top of the blower cage where the pin is. Fan purrs now, but it drove me nuts for a long time.
