Dash Cams - Let's see your set up and thoughts

Looking at getting a dash cam but there's so many. What fits the 3g4r nicely?

what works? What doesn't.

I'd like a discreet one that blends in.

I run one in everything. Usually a G1W type because those are cheap and good (though starting to get a bit old)

I have a Garmin Nuvi GPS, Valentine 1, and the G1W, installed in roughly the same places as they would be on my Bronco. I don't have the hardwire kits for them in yet so there's cords everywhere as opposed to them being hidden as they should be. The V1 is in the dead space above and to the left of the mirror, the G1W is concealed from the driver behind the right side of the mirror and the Garmin is tucked down and to the left as a "minimap".

I went with the Blackvue 590 2 channel(front & rear) because it was the cheapest unit at the time with the newest Sony nightvision chip, and without wifi or GPS because there are a lot of reviews saying they have issues getting it to work unless you do a bunch of computer rocket science stuff I don't understand and I didn't want the headache. Also read the GPS on some models goes to a cloud that people can track you on, so if you wear a tin foil hat this may be of concern to you. The "parking mode" feature is cool, if your car gets hit the unit buffers and records the previous 15 or 20 seconds prior to the car being hit. There is also the battery protection unit that keeps it from draining your battery if it gets too low called "Power Magic Pro". It's kind of a pain to pull the micro SD card every time I want to look at it so I might get the wireless one the next time. I have had zero issues with this 590 2 channel and the video is stunningly detailed and clear, very good at night even with the rear tinted window.
Pictures are of the front windshield(I placed it where it doesn't obstruct my view, I can see the function lights, & nobody really notices it because it is up by the black mirror & windshield tint. the rear is tiny, I barely see it from the inside and you can't see it from the outside.
I bought mine from Ebay for $160 and got the 128g chip there as well as it was much cheaper but MAKE SURE TO GET THE HIGH SPEED CHIP OR ELSE OR WON'T WORK !!!! I think it's a 10x chip, something like that but most of the reviews of units not working are because of the wrong chip.

Mines a Rexing that I got off Amazon. I like it a lot with the exception of the fuse or whatever in the power cord. Makes it hard to hide the cord under the headliner. It takes a micro SD card and takes quality video.


ETA I really hate that when I post images from my phone this forum turns them sideways.

The part I hate is the amount of time I waste watching dashcam videos on Youtube...... but it seems that a lot of accidents are not the persons who ends up crashings fault, but the wrong way driver who makes a clean getaway.

Looks like I'll finally be installing one of these... My wife brought home a few over the years from Taiwan and just a few weeks ago her parents visited, bringing a couple more. They are huge in Asia, like everyone has them.

Attaches to the rear view mirror. Is power easily accessible up there? I would think, and will look soon...
