Dash cleaner or protector?

Do you guys use any chemical products to clean or protect your 4Runers dash?

Here in NJ its illegal to tint the front windows, so the sun goes through easily, I do have a Windshield cover, but can go wrong with some extra protection.

After reading more than a few posts about cracked dashboards I went out and got a dashboard cover. They had a Coverking custom for $29 at costco.

Now I just remove the cover, take a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the dash. launder the cover and replace it.

nice thing is I put industrial strength 4" wide velcro to the back of my GPS, it just sticks to the cover, easy and quick.

I don't have a cover on my dash, but I use Meguiar's whenever I clean it with a solvent or cleaner. It's quality stuff and works very well.

Those covers look atrocious and very much an '80s item so I avoid any cover of sort and I just use the Meguire's trim shine which does a good job of cleaning the dash without coating it like Armor All does.

Girlfriend took her Acura RL to the local car wash and they used something shiny on the dash. This was over a year ago. I've tried everything to get rid of the shine. It is actually dangerous when the sun is in your eyes. I've tried various soaps and rubbing alcohol, with no improvement. Serious scrubbing too. Whatever they used is killer.

Seems they would have done this to a BMW or Porsche and dealt with a really angry owner by now.

For all plastics/vinyl I use Meguiars APC+ diluted 1:10 followed by 303 aerospace protectant

I use 303 aerospace protectant. Great stuff and it contains a chemical to help with the sun rays.

Mequires Natural here. So far, so good. It has some UV protectant in it and I use a window shade most of the time.

Definitely use something with UV protectant. I tried Meguiar's Supreme Shine and it really put a shine on everything. I am amazed at the shine and it has a great smell. I wear polarized sunglasses which cuts the glare out as soon as I put them on. I like it.

Vinylex here. Meguiar's also makes great products. IMO, just stay away from Armor All, it leaves the dash feeling disgusting and shiny.

i've tried a bunch of different things, my favorite so far is the mothers VLR it's a vinyl leather a rubber cleaner, good to just have in the center console for spills and whatnot, no greasy shiny look, and the stuff smells good

Einszett Cockpit Premium is great stuff also. Smells great as well.

I have both and like ECP better.

I picked up a black spray bottle of vinyl cleaner/sunscreen at WalMart.
Not a brand I recognized but it touts itself as leaving a non-glossy matte finish.
The only one they carry that says matte finish, kind of a warning I suppose in case someone likes shiny glossy. $6 (half the price of stuff mentioned in this thread so far)

Claims to reduce dust by controlling static charge. That is working for me too.

It's great on the black dash and rubber around the doors, cured my shiny dash problem on the other car too.

Put quite a bit on the plastic strip under the windshield wipers too. That dry thing really sucked it up. Brought it back to life.
