Dash Covers. Yay or nay?

What do you guys think about dash covers?

I've been looking around and found some suede ones that look a lot nicer than the carpet ones they sell at the local swap meet.

It can get scorching hot where I live (110 during surmmer) and with a BLACK dash, I imagine that thing is going to be cooking this summer. I don't want it to crack over time.

You don't need to go as extreme as a full cover, unless you like the look. Most protectants keep the UV rays from cracking, or fading anything. ie: Mothers, Meguiars, etc.

No way. Those are like furniture covers: look ugly while hiding beauty. Whats the point covering something up that wasnt suposed to be covered. I do not use any protectants just keeping it dust free and clean. As for covers, those remind me old people houses with covers for everything (tv, fridge, microwave, etc).

Don't hold back anything, tell us how you really feel? haha :D

Yeah I've decided against it already.

Now what about seat covers? That I think would be good because my dog is going to be riding shotgun sometimes and his claws are well....sharp. Plus, I surf quite a bit and salt-water tends to drip here and there and everywhere inside the vehicle, not to mention I sometimes feel as if I brought back half the sand from the beach.
