Dash lights - on or dim/off at night?

What do you prefer? On or dim/off while driving at night? If dim, why?

I like them as bright as possible. I don't really know why, I just always have.

Well, I like to know how fast im going so I keep it bright. Unless I have my gps running which displays mph, then I turn the dash lights off completely. It's more mellow with the cabin dark as can be.

Dim. I need to see the road, not what the O/S temperature is.

Ditto...always on bright.

Pretty dim. I don't like the gauges lighting up my face and interior at night.
