Dash Trim Kit For 2DIN HU??

i put a dd pioneer in my 06, i bought plastic filler pieces (2), 1 for each side. fits the round edges of the stock molding, covered it up nicely without buying a special full size molding. you can get them at crutchfields, or any electronics place . they screw or tape onto the side of the HU. you can also use some type of hard rubber taped to it. i first tried to use the molding from a limited, but it just wasnt right, this is much easier, & costs alot less. ive got pics if you need them. id have to send them email . by the way, my unit is an AVHP4000DVD if that matters.

PIONEER AVH-P3100DVD for $400.00 @ Best Buy
Metra Double Din kit for $20.00 @ same store
Scotche Direct Connect wire harness $80.00
The DVD button had to look stock, just if Toyota had installed it there. The solution - constant on/off switch, DAC is happens to be one. $52.00 and a week later I had it in my garage. I used continuity test mode in multimiter to find my contacts (only 2 needed). Parking brake wire is long enough to run back to buttons in center console. I used another wire to run from ground (shifter bracket bolt) to my new switch. Switch has a little ridge that prevent assembly workers from fitting it in wrong slot. After filing it off it fits in any blank spot after removing dummy plug from console. Wires connected, console snapped back in place - and I've got clean looking install.

Quick question... has anyone replaced a factory NAV system with a 2DIN aftermarket head unit? As opposed to replacing a JBL Synthesis head unit?
After some major headaches at a local install shop (I actually think highly of them) they concluded that the latest generation 4Runners with a factory NAV head unit have a slightly different dash panel than those with with the JBL Synthesis head unit. I was able to "somewhat" verify this with the Toyota dealer, in that the part numbers for the dash panels are different.
I am being told that none of the aftermarket 2DIN trim kits fit my 4Runner because it came with a factory NAV unit. So I am looking to see if anyone has actually replaced a factory NAV head unit, successfully using an aftermarket 2DIN trim kit... and if so, which kit did the trick.

I know you need at least the dash trim piece specifically for the Limited model. Eclipse makes the nav unit so it should fit. Theoretically, if you replace it with an Eclipse unit you may not even need a different trim piece. You could also try and customize a piece. IMO it's BS that it "can't" be done...

Thanks for the pointers here. I actually think this is the one of the kits they tried. They claim it would have worked fine if I had a Limited with regular JBL Synthesis factory radio installed, but there seems to be a slight difference between the dash panel on "that" Limited vs the one I have (e.g. a Limited with the factory Nav/JBL Synthesis installed).
There seems to be something funny about the dash panel with the factory nav, which is why I am trying to find somebody who actually did the conversion starting with a factory installed nav.
Sadly, I am working on incomplete information here. I have faith in the shop giving me the information, but it is possible that faith is misguided.
