1986 4Runner 4 banger auto.

From startup, my AT temp light, battery and brake dash lights stay illuminated. They will also flicker simultaneously.

Any ideas?

Hmmmmm That does make sense as the lights would flicker during situations I'd think that charging was low. Thanks.

Any other opinions are welcome.

Usually means the alternator is going bad.
You can replace the brushes yourself if you'e handy.

I believe it has to do with how they wire it, battery light alone indicates low voltage, where both indicate an alternator problem.

My '86 4runner too!

Today I am having the same exact symptoms with my '86 4runner, PLUS it is blowing COLD air through the heater and radiator is overheating a bit..... truck sitting in snowy driveway.... 25 degrees out....

Where would you recommend I get an alternator???

Call around to the local parts stores and see who has the best price and warranty.

As for the no heat and radiator over heating, could be a bad t-stat, frozen coolant, etc.
