Date of Manufacturing of Engine Oil

I just got curious. How do you tell the date of manufacture of engine oil? I looked at a Mobile 1 that I have at the moment and close to the bottom of the bottle it has this:
OEW17B14A 20A 11:47

Anyone knows what this means? I googled and didn't find a lot of useful info.

Add to that, Mobile 1 website says the oil has a shelf life of 5 years. So the DOM matters.

The only thing I can tell is that your oil was manufactured at 11:47. Not quite sure AM or PM.

I think it is the other way around: February 17, 2014. Day-Month-Year in that order. Now that I am *obsessed* with this-rightfully declared as such by some-I will not be able to sleep tonight knowing that I have three year old oil in my engine.

This world is full of dark people and tricks and I can't handle it no more. I am moving to Canada!

I'm gonna share something with you guys that'll make you cringe....

I only change my oil every 6 months... that means 182 days of the same oil in my engine.. that's 4368 hours of the same oil in my engine.. that's 262,800 minutes of the same oil in my engine.. that's 15,724,800 seconds of the same oil in my engine!

because 5th gen's need the freshest oil off the shelf! It's like buying a gallon of milk, you reach as far back in the fridge to grab the newest milk dont you?

Some oils do have additives that can break down over time. In addition, open or unsealed bottles can absorb moisture. The shelf life may vary depending on the manufacturer.

They probably tell you that so you can buy more oil. Who really keeps oil sitting that long anyway? Actually, my uncle wanted me to do an oil change on his car and had a case of fifteen year old Exxon 5W30. I used it. Guess what? The oil came out pretty nice 5000 miles later too.
