Daughter Tried to do a Good Thing....

Hey everyone,
Just got back into town this afternoon and my 16 Year Old Daughter tried to be a sweet kid and run my 4Runner through the car wash... She thought it would fit....

It Didn't....

I'll post pics, and there is little to no damage that's anything to worry about. She said all it did was damage my roof rack and already had a new one picked out to buy for me. But to be honest, the rack looks fine. It's the stock luggage rack that is busted up. The two bases (that run front to rear) look fine, but the two cross members are busted up. Plus the rear cap that is on rear of the driver side base is missing.

First I'll ask if anyone has some to sell, but I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on where to buy these parts? Or what the part numbers would be or any other info I could use to help locate replacements.

Recently had to replace the cross members on mine as well and shopped around online. It's hard to find factory ones and if you do they would run around $200 from what I saw. I ended up going to a local junkyard and finding a set and only paid $20. I would suggest that first

Wow that was nice of her to be thinking of you and wash it before giving the truck back to you. Most kids now a days would just return it back without doing anything to it. I remember my cousin borrowed one of my cars, there was sand EVERYWHERE in and outside of the car, and that's how he returned it back. Never again.

Parts can be replaced. I second the suggestion for wrecking yards if the workers are nice. I would also give [MENTION=78895]DeathCougar[/MENTION], [MENTION=85046]nissanh[/MENTION] or [MENTION=102813]SURF RUNNER[/MENTION] a pm to see if they have those parts available. I highly recommend those sellers as they worked with me and made sure I was good with their service. Best of luck!

I honestly wouldn't waste my time replacing the stock crossbars though. Those things are just about worthless.

How do you mount the Yakima Rack without the cross members?

Thule SquareBar 50", Thule Podium Foot Pack 460, KIT3101 is what they recommend.

I have the 50" crossbars and they're almost exactly as wide as the roof of the 4Runner.

I went with yakima Control Towers with Landing Pads #1, and 58" bars. The control towers mount to the landing pad #1s that specifically mount to the stock rails on the roof of the truck.

Those pics look good, thanks. Last night when I was looking, I thought that "KIT3101" was actually the while "Kit" (The bars, the feet, and hardware). Thanks for clarifying.

I'll start looking on CL for that setup. If not, I'll fall back to the few guys that have offered up the stock pieces they have laying around.

Yep. The 460 Podium Foot Pack replaced the Tracker II while also expanding the vehicles it can mount to. I personally have 65" bars (width of the '01's with the flares is 66". I LOVE them. Allows me to stack two wide surfboards or SUP's side by each or run my Thule box on one side and boards on the other.
