Daughters reaction to new (new to her) 4Runner

Dude, that is awesome.

If I had gotten a vehicle this nice at 16 I'd have been happier than a swarm of house flies on a fresh 3-coiler.

Also, the 4th gen got 5-star crash test ratings (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) so that should make you feel a little better as a father. I know it would for me. Congrats.

Awsome surprise! I've wanted one of these trucks since I was 16 and I couldnt get it till 24. When i was watching the video someone from the parts department came over to my desk and was like wtf is going on here I over heard all the madness

That's pretty much exactly the same reaction I had when I bought my 2006 last October, though my shriek may have been a tad bit higher.

There's nothing quite like seeing your own child's happiness. I loved the video.

My visor is similar but if i keep lowering/flipping back up itll stay, its like it has a small part that makes it sag but if i keep opening/closing itll eventually find a tight spot and stay. Maybe try that with hers!

So my concerns would be her having a bunch of kids in the car and being responsible for them. Just thinking of what I did when I was that young:

No, just because you can fit 15 people into it and drive to McDonald's doesn't mean you should.

4WD doesn't mean you actually get to use it.

More friends in the car means more distractions.

Clearly I have a few years until this is actually an issue, but I would like to know other's opinions.

not that she'll follow them . I mean, my first vehicle was my runner, and I guess we've had it in my family since '07 or so. My mom was tired of driving in the snow with 2WD, so she decided to make me jealous with her '04 v8 4x4.

Lauren is enjoying her Runner and Dad and Mom feel good about her in it. She works at Justice for Girls and is a Junior in HS. I love that she says her boyfriend is "Homework"! :bluejump:

Nice video and great present. It's a good, reliable and safe vehicle for her and not a speed monster that is tempting to show off in that way. I hope to be able to afford something just as nice for my son when he is that age.

For now, the 4th generation 4Runner is Dad's vehicle!

It is nice that you did that with kudos for involving her in the investment! May I suggest you put together a "care" package for it: Wax, wash liquid, vinyl cleaner/protectant, wash mitt, brushes, etc.. in a bucket. Then teach her how to take care of it. I did this for a girlfriend many years ago (the kit, not the car), and she did take care of the brand-new Maverick her parents bought her.

Great Idea, Thanks! I did make her check oil, air filter and other fluids but a "care" package would be good for Xmas.
