day wheeling near boone NC

Hey fellas,

I'm headed to Brown Mountain Labor Day weekend for some camping. I know the OHV is very short and easy so maybe we will find Richlands rd.

Does anyone have camping suggestions or any attractions near Brown Mountain? I rather be away from the crowds and deep in the woods.
 
I know exactly how you feel. The road is infact state road but most of the side trails and ssurrounding property are private property. It is unfortunate but people go out there and litter and trash the area. If you stick to the main trail it is fine but do not venture off. The entrance is the trail on the other side of the creek crossing and there will be several more small creek crossings. The signs are posted to ward off trespassers and the people that do not have any respect for the land. I would go with a small group not bigger then 3-4 vehicles or solo. The land owners out there are pretty cool as long as you stick to the trail. If you're out there and see litter please pick it up. I would love to go back but it will be in the Fall time more than likely as that is the best time of year for the area.

I knew good things would of happened if I crossed that creek!!! We might end up back there this weekend. It's supposed to rain, so we just have to wait and see.

I'm definitely up for going sometime in the fall when the leaves are changing. I should have most everything done to my truck then too, so I can test it out.
 
I noticed nobody responded to me, maybe you figure I'm a Yankee, haha. Rest assured I'm most at home in the South. Wife's family are all from GA but some live in FL now. Moving to Nebraska was an awful idea, same as when we lived anywhere but the South. Can't wait to get back.

Anyone got a line on any jobs in W.NC? :help::biggrin1:

Don't have any clue about Western NC jobs though.....
 
I have a tentative plan to head west for Labor Day weekend.

Should we plan for a meet up and Richlands run?

URE run this weekend for those that can make it. Still trying to figure out who's going Saturday and who's going Sunday, but there could be T4R members out both days. Post if you'd like to come.

I'll be in Boone, but there is going to be a group of sweet Tacomas out there. Give them a shout if you see them.

I would definitely be interested in running out there if you go on Sunday...can't make it Saturday unfortunately. Been wanting to check it out. A couple of weekends ago I ran Flagpole in GWNF in Va. from multiple directions, it was nasty in a couple of spots but my stock TE had no real issues...just let me know when you finalize the details...and where is the exact entrance to that road again?
