Had a good time. Leaves are patchy. Should be really nice at the end of the month. The bridge has been rebuilt. Not sure if state/ county rebuilt it or local property owners? Heard a Bigfoot howl while we were out there too.

Lol yup, still 2wd. There were 2 hills that I had to back up and use momentum to get up, but it wasn't bad at all. I really enjoyed it. I had a friend with me that knows the trail.

Dang that looks fun! I've always wanted to visit The Flats. May try to make it up, but Sunday is the only day I'd be able to.

On a side note, I may head up to Richland early this Sunday morning for a little shake down run of my new rear suspension. You game?

They have a couple rides a year, if you cant make this one. Definitely a good place to check out.

I may be able to ride out there Sunday, but I'm not sure yet. i'll let you know by tonight.

So i met up with a friend in town and rode out to Richland rd today for a short drive through the woods. And who do i find. The fedex guy stuck in the creek after the "2nd playground". He said his gps was trying to get him to lenoir and he got that far before he decided to turn around and got stuck. a short pull with the winch and he was free.
damn gps will get you every time.

Wife and I are heading to Asheville tonight and will be returning Sat afternoon/evening. There's a slight chance I could convince her to take the "scenic" route and go down Richland Rd on the way back to Charlotte... Anyone potentially interested in joining?

Ahh, wish I had seen this post yesterday...but I am a little over two hours away. Would be interested on going on Richland Rd again sometime before the end of the year.

checked out richland road a few weeks ago and it was a freaking blast. you guys downplayed it so much that I didnt even air down before riding up lol. My gf's dad and I were pleasantly surprised to find some fairly technical sections and some bad ass creek crossings/mudholes. perfect way to clean the salt off of the rig my front left turn signal actually ended up filling up with water but other than that no damage to report. Think a goldfish would survive in there?

All in all I give richland road a 10/10. Not crowded at all with some fun obstacles. & it dumps you out right at some blue ridge parkway overlooks which make for a beautiful view this time of year.

Everything in Texas is private land, so not much chance to get off the pavement unless you're hunting. I'd really like to do this, but hesitant to go solo....just since I've never been and don't really know what to expect.

We'll be leaving the T4R TE at home and driving my Tacoma.

I'm realizing that I don't have any good pictures of my truck post lift. However, since every thread needs pics...here's one pre-tires:

Also, I have a CB, but I need to get a better ground on my antenna to make it usable.

Debating on your route check out Hurricane Creek road and Brown Mtn OHV. Both doable in your Taco

I'll be loaded down with luggage, presents and the dog on the way in. I'll want to wait until I'm unloaded before hitting any trails. We're actually staying in Sugar Grove, but let's just pretend that I live in Boone for the week and want to go explore something.

Not too much exploring to be had in the Communist State of NC. Brown Mtn, Richlands, and Hurriance Creek is what you are working with out there. Just like in Tejas, people are very protective of their private land out in the highlands.

If you don't mind keeping it in 2Hi check out Grandfather Mtn, lost town of Mortimer, Blue Ridge Parkway, and all the hippie shit like breweries and art.

We've driven to and hiked Grandfather Mtn. a couple of times. I looked on the map and Hurricane Creek looks a little further than I really care to drive.

I'm hoping someone will be interested in doing Richland Rd. with me.
