I wonder if it'll revert back to the old DST changes, first Sunday in April and last Sunday in October. When Bush signed that Energy Act back 2005 for the new DST time change weekends in March and November, I thought I heard there was a provision stating if there are no changes in energy consumption, it would go back to the old DST dates. IIRC, when the longer DST time period was first adapted in '07, energy consumption went up by 2%.
Someone told me oil companies were behind the push. More daylight hours means more people stay out longer, thus driving around more. 7-Eleven reported increased revenues when DST was extended.
IMO, DST doesn't do squat to save energy. With standard time only lasting four months, why don't we just leave the clocks one hour ahead and call it done. Tomorrow morning when I get up at 7am, I will need to turn on the lights which off sets the need when I come back in the evening. How many office buildings, businesses, manufacturing plants, schools, etc. operate with their lights off during the day. Some of the office buildings and high rises in downtown have their lights on 24/7. They say it's for security purposes. Call it what you want, but nothing is saved if we moved the clocks forward or backward. Heck, even when there are "spare the air days" and we're asked to keep the lights off, so building management can run the AC and not strain the electricity grid (remember the energy crisis CA suffered in 2000?), some other tenants in our office building continue to run all their lights, even in conference rooms that are unoccupied.
DST is just a big fat hassle and inconvenience. I lose 30 minutes running around adjusting all the clocks throughout the house.

-Serious heart attacks goes up.
-Takes 3 days for people to adjust to DST changes.
-Fatal car crashes goes down.

I guess my work company is rich and stupid (* i like).We have computerized (digital) timecards so no paper. Just jot down the time you come in and jot down time you leave. Payroll person can't do nothing. lol
So do you guys just eat it in the fall. It is all good in the spring.

I love dst. In winter I get home from work at about 5 - 5.20pm and have virtually no usable daylight left to do anything outside related. But when the clocks go forward I have at least an hour and by the the middle of summer I have nearly 3-4 hours of light to do stuff in. Plus I'm no longer driving home in poor visibility conditions which makes it a little harder to spot all the douche drivers out there.

That must be nice. I have to change the time on my microwave, stove, 7 wall/desk clocks, 2 alarm clocks, and all of my wristwatches. The only clock that auto changes are the cable boxes. Takes about 10 minutes of my time.

IIRC, only one small region/area in AZ has DST. I believe it's a native tribe that observes. But for the most part, AZ and Hawaii are the only two states that doesn't have DST.

Haha, ok, maybe 30 minutes is a bit of an exeraggeration, but it still takes well over 15 minutes for clocks that are visible to myself and others in the house.
-A handful (5) of battery operated clocks (living room, dining room, garage, two small ones on tables/desk, extra bedroom).
-A bunch (4) of alarm clocks (four, some of them have DST switches to toggle the +1 hr, others don't).
-Three VCRs (yeah, I still have those... two will auto set themselves, one doesn't--that I one I didn't change since Nov, since it would be "wrong" for about four months).
-Two watches that aren't atomic, luckily one is along with the cell phone.
-Three Toyotas.
-Clocks on stove, microwave, range/fan hood.
-The time on the answering machine and cordless phones.
-Almost forgot, the digital cameras and camcorder.
Good thing PCs and cell phones auto adjust. But Windows 7 for some odd reason advanced the clock two hours ahead last night. It was fine in the morning, but not at night and this morning.
Edit: So to think of it, with all the clock adjusting and especially devices that do keep time, it actually takes more than 30 minutes to get them "correct."
BTW, I also have to go over and fix my grandfather's VCR because his follows the "old" DST settings, beginning of April and end of October. (It's the only clock he uses in the living room where he spends the greater part of his day.) Thanks for nothing Dubbaya!
