Daystar pricing for install

veloindy, I wouldn't get anything installed by 4Wheel Parts, my buddy dropped his truck off there and walked out paying a $5,500 bill only for the truck to break down the next day on the side of I-70 for three hours. Turned out they really screwed up some stuff on his car.

Hey glock,

No complaints out of me, they did a great job! Picked up my truck tonight and couldn't be happier! I can't believe I waited so long to get the leveling kit installed. I really like the Nittos too. I'll get to try them out on snow in the mountains this weekend.

Let me know when you start to tackle your suspension mod. I'll hover around and hand you tools.

Awesome, I'm glad they did a good job. Where in the mountains are you going? I was up at Vail yesterday and today and the snow was awesome back in Blue Sky Basin.

I'll keep you posted as to when I plan on installing it. I'm still trying to gather all of the parts, but it will be sometime in early January.

We hit Loveland today, the snow is so good right now! I didn't drive the 4Runner, my wifes car was in the driveway so I took it. The Nitto snow report will have to wait. I'm loving the tires and lift though!

I'm around in January so let me know.

Yeah, we can't complain when we have mid-winter conditions in the beginning of December! This winter is going to be an awesome one for Colorado.

I'm getting impatient with this install. It gets harder and harder every day to look at all the hardware just sitting in my garage and my stock suspension on my truck in my driveway. The only thing holding me back is what a 3" lift will do to my mpg on a 2,500 mile road trip.

Thanks for the offer and I'll for sure let you know when the install date gets set in stone.

veloindy, did you end up installing the Daystar kit yourself? I live North of Denver and trying to figure out if I want to install it on my 4Runner myself our take it somewhere. Love to hear how it went of you.

save the money and do it yourself. it's not hard at all. if you have a garage or a place to park it for about 4-5 hours to do the front and rear, you can easily do this yourself.
ask around, i am sure there are some guys in colorado that would be willing to help. i have helped quite a few guys on here and it just gets easier everytime. well, except for Shanes. for some reason it was just a re****ed day for me.

Hey Dockins, I ended having the work performed by 4 Wheel Parts, along with a tire install. They did a great job! I didn't have much luck finding help when I was looking. Plus, I didn't want to waste hours trying to figure this crap out. Especially when it still has to go to the shop for an alignment. I wish I could provide more help.

bringing this back from the dead...

Just ordered the daystar kit from 4wheelparts since they are once again offering the 25% off installation special with any online purchase/store pickup. They quoted me $220 for my Sport with Xreas, which we discussed beforehand. This included alignment!!! Take 25% off that badboy and I'm paying about $165 out the door...not too bad. :reddance:

I just got off the phone with my local 4wheelparts store (AZ) and they wanted $159.99 for the 2.5/1.5 kit + $300/install + $97.50 alignment + tax :wtf:

Guess I'll be doing the install myself in October since its still a thousand degrees outside and way too hot to be putzin around in the garage all day.

I should clarify that my price was just for the installation/alignment as the kit itself was another $154.00 off their website. That install + alignment price is complete BS

yes, i'm quoting my own quote :guitar3:

install was done yesterday at the Portland 4wheelparts and after the 25% off installation coupon I walked out of there paying $159 which included the alignment. This is on my Sport with Xreas too! its obvious that each store is ran/operated completely different since install prices seem to be across the board with these folks.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but i didnt want to start a new one and had to share this. While negotiating a new puchase with a stealership, I asked about a spacer lift and they said they usually install Daystar lifts. The total would be $1280!

I balked and they said they could do me a favor and take of $200. :p

Another somewhat-amusing story... called a dealer service department in Colorado Springs today and asked about doing a spacer lift on a limited (negotiating a new purchase so thought it would be nice to have it done when we pick it up). He told me they don't do them anymore. We got to talking and he told me that they messed one up and had to replace the system and that they are afraid to do them now.

If certified mechanics are afraid of XREAS who can we trust?

On a positive note, their shop rate is only $80/hr. Hmmm... maybe they aren't certified. :D

Wife and I got a 4runner LE in July. We basically had 2 days to get a vehicle, so no research was done. I never heard of Xreas at the time. I asked about removing/lessening the rake. Dealership told me nothing can be done with Xreas suspension. They only install Readylift on non-Xreas or TRD parts.
