DDM Tuning, TRS HID kits?

Okay guys, so I have finally decided on putting HIDs into my truck. I've been reading posts about different kits and I cannot decide which to go with. I've read a lot of good things about DDM tuning and TRS kits. I noticed there's a big price difference between the two, so I don't know which to choose.

I want to retrofit my lights when I have the money, but right now I just want to get the lights in. So ddm tuning or TRS?

I have read that a few people use the ballasts, etc. from ddm tuning and just get the bulbs from TRS. I'm thinking about doing that. Opinion from anyone who have used either? Thank you!

I've had ddm in for about a year and love them, no problems.

I have had a DDM in for 2 years, as well as in another vehicle and have been happy with them. They are so cheap that every two years, I swap out the ballasts/ignitors as preventive maintenance. 55W / 5000K.

I read about people having problems with the ddm kits regarding the color shifting drastically. Are your lights still about the same color as when you got them?

i have had two sets in my 4R that have changed colors on me. I owned a kit several years ago on my f150 and never had a problem with them though.

I've had eBay hid kits and hated it. Ddm tuning now 2 sets. My left fog bulb color is more white than the right. But for $29 a set screw it buy another set.

its not really the price that bothers me when I have to replace them, its the wait. It seems like it takes 2+ weeks to get these after ordering.

So, there's a place near me that sells hid's (HID DIRECT!, HID Kits HID Bulbs Parts and Accessories) and have been thinking about getting from them. But here's the thing, I'm worried that this company is just selling these "cheap" kits like ddms, etc. and marking up the price. Not exactly ddms, but just a cheaper brand of kits. So if it was you, would you try the ddms or hiddirect's? HIDDirect sells their kits for $75, but I could get high and low beams from ddm tuning for that.

Are the 5000k white or do they have a blueish tint? I've read a few complaints that ddm's colors are off, so the 5000k isn't a true white. Do you have hids in your high beams?

I have gone through 3 sets of DDM's for color shifting, fuses going out, and bulbs going out. I finally got tired of sending stuff back and having to wait for shipping and constantly having to worry if they would turn on or not. So I got 2 TRS kits for two of my cars and the quality is OUTSTANDING! Not a single problem in the two years I have had them and they have a 5 year warranty if anything were to happen. Trust me when I say TRS is worth the extra money.

I personally have experience with both (and others...). TRS is definitely the way to go!

I've had DDM in the past, years ago (2006), in several cars with no issues at all. Bought 4 kits for 3 separate vehicles, all but 1 quit within the first 2 months. I fought with their customer service for another 6 months or so and finally gave up. Personally I will never buy from them again. Amazon has kits and I've had good results so far with them. Plus the wife an I are on amazon prime so we deal directly with them for customer service if something should go wrong. For $30 you can take the gamble, or $40 we went through amazon. Just my $0.02
