And I think it's really bad when minors are driving 5000+lb trucks and SUVs;the drivers around them are at risk since their driving experience is limited to begin with then you let them drive something that can crush most other cars out there. Young people (myself included at that age) don't realize their mortality and are willing to take more chances and be reckless and that's a problem.

they should have full sized bumper cars for new drivers any age! 
It's all cars.
It's not just SUV, it's kids street racing in those lowered Hondas and Mitsubishi Eclipses just like the saw in the movie The Fast and the Furious. It's racing each other on freeways and on streets, it's smashing and wrapping themselves around telephone poles, trees, and killing innocent people.
It's the young and stupid who think they are so smart they can drive 113 mph while reaching for a cell phone.
It's parents who don't care where their kids are and don't care they come home at 2 in the morning. It's parents who think it's just so cool to buy cars for turning 16 or for their sophomore year in high school.

even though i am a new driver, 16, belive or not i am better than every new driver out there. im not kidding, well at least in my area i am.

The really sad part of the article is that one pattern is the lack of seat belt use. No excuse for that -- everyone in the vehicle should be belted in.slowginjoe said:
And it works -- about 20 years ago, the seat belt saved my Mom's life when a teenager ran a stop sign at over 30 mph and t-boned the car where my Mom was in the passenger seat. Thanks to the seat belt, all she got was a bruise from the seat belt.

Yes I know I lack the experiance but I do not think I'm "invincable". Also i don't race or any of that stuff i shouldnt be doing. Every person in the car must wear a seat belt at all times or i kick them out.

I agree with you Jacobzky I hate it when people a little older than me or same age and even some adults speed through red lights and blow through stop signs and weave in and out of traffic causing accidents. In the nieghborhoods they completley ignore the 25 MPH or 30 MPH speed limit and speed through where little kids or some people are playing, getting the mail and stuff. I def will not drink and drive. Or go 113 MPH on public roads like that one kid on here.

Speaking of young drivers (no offense to those responsible young drivers), my sister was visiting S.F. this past weekend and some 16 yr old girl ran a 4-way intersection w/o even slowing down and T-boned her 7 month old '06 Acura TL. Damn girl must've been on her cell phone or something as she told the officer she didn't even see any stop signs at all. My sis told me that the side & curtain airbags did go off and the car spun around at least 90 degrees. Most likely the frame was damaged meaning that the vehicle will have to be totaled as far as insurance goes. Do you guys think that she will be getting the full purchase price of her car from the insurance company as it is still practically new? I've only done 1 oil change for her so far. We have Mercury and I don't know which insurance company the teenage girl has. Either way, I don't think that we should have to pay for anything to have the car replaced if it is deemed totaled.

Here in the bay area there was a teenage girl driving an SUV on the freeway. She then attempted to race another SUV. Eventually she lost control, side swiped another SUV which rolled and killed the occupants. The occupants was royalty; a prince from Tonga and his wife. The teenager is now facing first degree manslaughter charges and is more than likely going to be sentenced 7 to 10 years.

there is an issue with the new drivers and their lack of experience, but really theres only one way to get the experience and thats through driving,
im not concerned with the size of the vehicle, but more concerned with the parents which spoil their kids with whatever kind of car they want,
where im from all the kids parents buy them cars and pay for the performance parts and many arent responsible enough to appreciate the law.
me and my friends are not that lucky and spent and still do spend all of our time in the garage, building our trucks(slammed and raised)
what people should do to new drivers is govern the exceleration, and top speed, it would atleast put some control into the speeding issue
