Deal...or No Deal?

In the market for a T4R and a want late model SR5P w/ low mileage. What I've been finding is to get a clean 2013-2014 in the Philadelphia Pa area i'm looking at about $34K. Being that it's end of month & end of quarter I've been able to haggle the dealership on a brand new 2015 SR5P Black/Beige w/o 3rd row to $35,600 ($38,000 OTD).

I'm about $3K below MSRP.

If the used market is that strong I tend to think i'm getting a pretty decent deal on a brand new item for only another $1600, but I wanted to get the opinion of the forum. TrueCar, Edmonds, etc all say I'm getting an unusually lower price...

Thoughts and Feedback are appreciated.

Get the new car, usually much better deal even though more costly. These trucks hold their value. I would spend the extra 2-3k and buy new.

Get the new one and the warranty. I was in the exact same boat and initially wanted used, but it just doesn't make sense to buy a 2-3 year old 4runner with the resale value so high.

Some may disagree, but in my experience, you are better off buying new than trying to cut a deal for a 1 yr/2 yr old anything.

It could be the region I'm in. Maybe prices are better elsewhere, but every time me and the misses set out to get something new/new-to-us, we always end up with something new.

If I'm going to pay that much for a vehicle, I want a virgin.

You haven't mentioned anything about financing, but keep in mind that a newer vehicle will usually have a lower % interest rate also.

I'd buy new. You're getting a brand new vehicle with brand new warranty and you'll be able to finance it for less than a used one.
