Dealer LTD vs TE dilema

I am to pick up my 2011 TE this week. Now I'm having second thoughts and want the Limited instead. Problem? They are shipping the TE in from another state and the paperwork is all done, just delivery and a final signature to accept delivery. They're going out of their way to help me get the car I want and now I tell them no, I want a different one. Am I being unreasonable (too indecisive???) or should the dealer just bite their tongue and get me the LTD that I want (which is also at a different dealership in another state that they have to get the car from)? Advice needed please. They're both great cars and I'd be happy with either but the full time 4WD is tugging me that way. Just to answer another question you may ask, I can count on one hand how often I go off-roading per year.

My advise is to get what you want. You're the one spending the money. You haven't signed the final paperwork or driven it off the lot, so officially it's not yours yet.

It doesn't really matter if they have an extra TE floating around. They'll sell it soon enough. If you're wondering before you buy you probably will not be happy with the TE.

Just make sure this is really what you want in the end. After you sign and drive off in the Limited, you can't say man "I really should have stayed with the TE"....

IMO, I'd go with the TE.
 
Get what you want, if you can afford it. It's simply a matter of money. Just go to the dealer and tell them what you want and find out what it's going to cost. That may help you make up your mind.

Do you have a deposit down? Don't be too surprised if you forfeit it, AND get asked for another one. I doubt this will be cheap.

Should be interesting - keep us posted.
 
In this case, price is pretty much a wash...a bit more than $1k difference. I like the full time 4WD and leather in the LTD, but I like the ruggedness of the TE. Also the waterproof fabric is nice but I'm sure it attracts dog hair...which is a whole new thread.
 
Get what you want man. It will bug you forever if you don't. It's worth a few extra $$ and some minor hassle.

Agreed! There are MANY differences with the Limited:

Smart Key (Push Button Start)
Auto Climate Control
Leather
Full-Time 4WD
X-REAS (one of my favorites)
Auto On/Off Headlights
SOS Safety Connect Button with Unlock, Theft notice, Emerg 911, etc...
15 speaker with Subwoofer

For me, since I do way more city/highway driving than I do off-road, the Limited made more sense.

DO NOT worry about switching your choice with the delear - you don't want to spend nearly $40,000 and having any regret at all. The dealer will be fine with it - they can sell the Trail and Limited are not hard to find.

Seriously though, do the procedure where you list pros and cons of each. I did that for the 3 models and came out with a TE. Like others have said, they will likely snatch your deposit.

Leather and the FT4WD are my main things for the LTD. I don't like e LTD 20 inch wheels though. Ideal car would be the trail with leather and FT4WD. :tongue:

I hear ya - sounds like you really like features from each of the models. You could easily add leather to the Trail and I'm sure you could swap the 20's on a limited for 17's. I see a lot posts on here with people looking for the 20's.


Limited, Trail, or SR5 - all are awesome trucks! Good luck with your decision and do not let your dealer make the choice for you.
 
You can add leather for min cost! I just did on my used 06' sport. I wanted the limited mainly because on the leather. But that said I would 100% get the 2011 limited over the trail.
 
After some sniveling from the dealership, they got me the LTD I wanted and everything worked out. Took a few extra days but I got the car I wanted. :thanks:

Yea, and what is the name of the dealer that is going to have a TE on the lot? In fact, I bet if you post it up here, you might be able to take a buyer for the TE with you to ease any hard feelings the dealer might have.... :)
