Dealer Tire Swap ??

My local dealer (CA) wants $160 to swap Dunlops to Michelins.
Worth it ? or Try somewhere else ??

Considering the price difference between the two tires is about $50, $160 is not that bad of a deal. I have the Michelins and they are a pretty good improvement over the Bridgestones I had before.

I have swapped tires on every new vehicle I have purchased in the last 30 years,
except my 2004 SE(wish I would of swapped).

I found the best deals on the same brand of tires. Do it in the first 50 miles
(so the little mold vent nubs are still showing).

The plain fact is that the OEM tires are made for a price and will only last
20 to 30,000 mi. They have less tread on them.

I swapped my Goodyears on my former JeepGC for GSA's and at 60,000 mi.
they still had 40% tread left. The GSA's they put on the Jeep Wranglers last
only 20,000 mi.

If you change brands you will still get a good deal. Actually this will be the
cheapest set of tires you ever bought.

I made some inquiries on trading the Dunlops, but nobody was really
interested in making any decent deal.

I had the switch part of the deal, added it on at the end after we worked out the price. They had the michelins on another 4runner, didn't cost me anything. These Midhelin Cross Terrains are good tires and will work well for all types of driving except off road.

Seems the Friday plan changed by Monday.
Dealer now says they can't do it because invoice on other vehicle indicates exact brand of tire...
I'm waiting until I find one w/ Michelins I guess..
Mute point, but as long as I've waited for the newer V8, a little longer wait won't kill me.

I've never seen a monroney sticker on a 4Runner that indicated a particular brand of tire.

It sounds to me like the dealer is just working you, in order to get more money any way they can.

I would find another dealer.

Search around at some of your local tire dealers. I went straight from the dealer to a tire shop here and changed out my Dunlops for the Bridgestone Revo's. The tire shop gave me $55 a piece for the Dunlops. You might have to make a few phone calls, but in the end it will be worth it and you won't have to wait to buy your 4runner.

They are trying to feed you total BS. MY Sport comes with raised white letter tires and I wanted the Michelins. They switched the tires and put the raised white letter tires on the SR5. Now you don't need a sticker to know that the SR5 doesn't come with raised white letter tires. Did they show you on the window sticker where it states the type of tire? FIND A NEW DEALER, and tell them you are going to buy from someone else because they won't switch the tires. See what they say then

THAT IS PART OF THE DEAL. SWITCH THE TIRES AT NO COST OR I WALK. CAPISH? COMPRENDE? SWAP AT NO CHARGE OR NO DEAL. YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO DECIDE WHILE I WALK TO MY CAR TO DRIVE OFF.
