Dealers are nuts for pre-owned 4Runners

While I love the V8 in mine, had I been in your situation, that final offer may have worked on me.

This dip-shit salesman comes back with $25k for mine, $32.5k for the new Trail.

I keep thinking there's something really fishy about those numbers & offer. The math doesn't work out right. One variable could be the V8 possibly being in extra-high demand, particularly in your area, &/or the 2012's been sitting a real long time. But I still wonder what they're up to.

I must be the only one who actually likes the 2014 refresh. I think it's a big improvement over the 2010 - 2013 models, which I thought were horrendous.

I think the front looks better, particularly the headlights. They don't look like they poke out from the body lines as much or look as "bug eyed".

They removed the penny-pinching external antenna and integrated it into the glass. Thank goodness, what an eye sore.

The interior gauges look much better now, and readable.

Frankly, two thumbs up in my opinion. If only we could get a small V8...

I'm wanting my wife to trade her aging and high mileage CX-9 in for a 2013 4Runner before we drive to Disney World. Maybe CX-9s are in high demand and I can get a similar deal. :bowl:

Sounds like you need to get out to NJ & check out that 2012 STAT!

I've been looking at dealerships for 03/04 4runners with V8 4x4 and they are in the 11-14 range. Even with cracked dashboards and high miles.

I think you guy's making them so popular in the offroad community is driving the price up lol

I think it's because the 4th gens were very popular. The 12 didn't have KDSS but I don't think that's an option that's appreciated around these parts anyway. It had about 50 miles on it so it must have gone on many test drives since this dealer only gives you a limited test area.

It was Autoland in Springfield in case anyone is interested.

I'm not because I'm not a fan of the 5th.

I think once the new 2014s hit the lot the price on the 2012 will jump up.

They said that about the 4th gens when the "ugly" 5th gen was revealed;didn't happen and I doubt the '12 would jump up in price. People get over looks fast and the same will continue with the '14s.
I like the headlamps but the front is a bit quirky but wouldn't stop me from buying one or any 5th gen since they look better than the 4th gens did.

I think that ^^^^ looks AWESOME. But do those 5th gens still have a solid rear axle and ladder frame? Or are they unibody now?

My local dealer is sending me countless spam e-mails trying to coerce me to trade in my 4Runner.

And they're not doing me any favors on their trade-in quotes.

The V8 is a fantastic engine and here in Colorado, it eats up the high passes with ease.

However, why would I trade a really neat V8 for a very expensive 2014 model that looks like an Edsel's front grill?

I think I'll keep the V8! :amen:

I went to check out a 2012 4Runner with 12k, and they were asking 36k for it, and offered me 13K for my 2007 4Runner V8 with 102k. They went down to 33K on their's, and went to 15K on mine. I said, "I'm satisfied with my 4Runner, and drove off."

Looks aside - I don't understand the backwards evolution that went on there. The 4th gen got projectors in 2006 and continues till 2009. In 2010 you make a new model with no projectors and don't reintroduce them till 2014 ...... :der:

I too was not a fan of the 5th gens. They were just too big and bulky looking to me. But I work at a Carmax in NC and when we got one in I checked it over and I was like damn. This is a really nice truck. The interior is what got me. Very sharp looking. And it sits like a big truck, which I like. This one was a limited so it had all the bells and whistles. Electronic running boards that unfold out whenever a door is open and fold back in when it is closed back. Fancy stuff! Crazy expensive though. This one was a 2012 with barely 10k miles. We were asking $39k for it....
