Dealers opinion

Hi everyone, I hope someone can clarify something for me. I have purchased sometime ago a 2008 4R SR5 Sport Edition, a US model that was imported to Canada. Now I want to trade it for a new one, however the dealer declares that because its a US model and the drivetrain is a real wheel drive compare to a all wheel drive for a Canadian model for that same year, this affects the trade-in value, because buyers are not interested in rear wheel drivetrain, and on what basis can he advance this declaration, is this true? or just an argument of not giving me the fair value for it. I don't understand is selling argument. Thx guys.

If you have a 4 wheel drive Runner there will be a grey selector switch on the dash next to where you install the key to start the truck. If not, then you have a 2 wheel drive Runner (rear wheel drive only) and the dealer is correct.

2 wheel drive just isn't as useful, especially here in Canada. Unfortunatly the dealer is right in this case - many people up here buy SUVs for the capability, not many are going to want a 2wd. Sorry, best if luck with the trade.

Gotta agree with that.
A 4WD vehicle is going to be more popular anywhere there is a lot of ice and snow or unimproved roads.
