Dealership Decal Removal

First day with the new ride and the dealership put that black decal crap on the back door. When i got my 03 Runner, i just used my fingernail and it came off without a prob., but the letters were thin. The new ride's are a little wider and there's a damn graphic next to it.

Best way to get it off?

Go back to the dealer and insist they remove it or pay you a fee for driving around with their advertisement on your truck. I have seen dealers put their name on the reg plate surround which is easy to switch out but I would not be happy if they put decals on the body.

Don't want to threadjack but I'm interested in hearing what people suggest. I've got a dealership decal on the hatch and also faded pinstripping down both sides of the body I'm wanting to take off.

I've been told I should be able to use a blow dryer and razor blades to remove both. Just wondering if that's a good method, just don't want to damage the paint.

a lot of times you don't need to use the razorblade, just the hairdryer and your fingernails. i've used the razorbalde before, but you have to make sure you're not on any curvature, or you can slice the clearcoat or paint.

I used a heat gun (or hairdryer) and my nails like the4rdan said then some wd-40, isopropyl alcohol, or paint thinner and a rag to get the residue off.

Use the citrus goo gone. It won't harm your paint will dissolve the decal glue. I removed mine as best I could by peeling it off an then hit it with goo gone. WD40, paint thinner etc... makes me cringe.

I used to detail cars at a dealership and we had people ask us to remove them all the time. We always used plastic razor blades. I think we got them at Home Depot or even an auto parts store. Plastic razor blades will not dig into the paint like a metal one will. We also used a lot of window cleaner to keep the area slippery. It was super easy. Good Luck!

This is what body shop's use. It "erases" the stickers w/o damaging the paint. Everything from pin stripes to 4x4 decals. You can use it in a drill to keep the rpm's down.

That's what I use and it's awesome. I took the chrome moldings off of my old GMC Z71 with it (horrible job) and that's what I use to debadge every vehicle I own.

Washed my dads 08 Highlander this weekend and the raised plastic letters just came right off, on mine i just used my fingernail to peel them off

my ex's ride had this. i heated the decal up and pulled it off slowly. then i used a clay bar to remove the residue. worked perfect. you cant even tell it was ever there. it was on for a good year + baking on her car from the hot CO sun.

now if clay bars would just work on removing ex's :flipoff:
