dealership RMX package

My local dealership has a package called the RMX (short for Rogers Motors Xtreme) where they take tacomas and tundras and give them Revtek lift, new rims and BGF AT. They look pretty sweet but when I drove by tonight I saw an awful incarnation of a car. They took a Toyota 4 runner and gave it the "RMX" package. Sadly no lift just 20 inch rims and low profile tires. Lame! I had my camera so I took some photos of a real 4runner next to the dealerships new RMX 4runner.

It always kills me when the dealer adds aftermarket stuff to what used to be a perfectly good new car. If you want to offer window tinting, different wheels, etc., then push that at the time of the sale and even offer a deal on it. IMO, don't mess up the inventory with that stuff until you have a customer that wants it.

The real 4Runner looks good!

Ha, Ha... When I test drove my new 2007 I think it had the same bling bling rims on it (I think it was the exact same wheel)... I asked about it and the salesmen remarked about how cool the look was and it was 'only' $3500. I laughed and told him if he would pay me the $3500 I'd consider keeping the tires and wheels.

I bought the runner that night and drove it off of the lot with the promise that they'd replace the wheels with stock the next day. I drove it that way and the ride was weird and had a bit of a stutter over sharp bumps. The ride with the stock 18" wheels and cross terains is much better, even with the pressure at 40 PSI. It's still a bit wallowy, but nothing I didn't expect on a 5k+ lb vehicle, and nothing stiffer springs cant fix.

The limiteds come with 18" wheels that don't have to be polished and are beter looking in my opinion. The ride improved quite a bit when they (reluctantly) put the stock wheels and tires on.

Bling like this is not worth it to me on a V8 4x4. I bought the runner to use it, not to polish it and parade around town.

The 4Runner didn't do squat for me. Yours is cool and how it should be. I do like the Tundra though, even though it's go bling wheels, but at least it still be wheeled and not just be pavement queen.

I wonder what's that black dot on the bottom of the driver's side on the tailgate under the T below the Tundra emblem. I thought the parking sonars are in the bumper.

Its a dealers badge. I took mine off before I drove it off the lot for the first time.
