I rarely support a ban of a member but when someone is just here to be a cancer on a forum and just here to cause problems and argue then good riddance.

I agree, but I think that ES will be fine because from the posts that I have read he clearly knows everything and will not be needing any assistance on anything anytime soon.

How can you say that Hummer driver's drive, on average, less than civic drivers? Do you know all of them? Are you some sort of mileage analyst who travels all over the world researching who drives how many miles? Most people I know that drive Hummers drive them everywhere, everyday because if they can afford the damn Hummer, they can afford the damn gas.

Man I really wish my work wouldn't have banned this site because it is labeled as "chat". Darn government computers. Just to throw this out there, my neighbor drives a H2 and she gets better gas mileage than me and I drive farther to work than her. Take it for what it is worth. Looks like there was a pretty good discussion earlier lol.

You need to throw some more facts out there about the H2 and even your truck to draw a real conclusion.

What is your MPG? Mostly city? Highway? What's the H2 getting? Kind of driving?

A stock 3rd gen in good running condition will see at least 16 in the city (H2s are around 13 on a good day) and they don't get over 20 on the highway according to my mom's neighbor who commutes in his H2 from Littleton to CO Springs 5 days a week and that's over 100 miles round trip and he figures it to be a max of 20mpg and my mom gets almost 23 in her '99 Limited. (she now drives a Mazda3 and is seeing over 30 on the highway)

He admits the Hummer will be going away for a more practical car since $500 a month just to commute is getting old.

I heard that GM is going to stop making fullsize SUVs in the near future...is this true?? If that is the case, then say goodbye to Hummers. In fact, earlier this year, Hummer already said that there will not be a redesign H2 in the future. No H1. No H2. H3 is on the chopping block next unless GM will put in the upcoming small diesel in it.

So, despite what ES=WA said, GM knows their own cars and GM is eliminating the big boys in favor of crossovers and small cars.

no kidding? i'm honestly surprised.

where we live is very status conscious. when the H2 dropped everyone had one. i think because of the poor fuel economy, etc., people traded them in for the H3s. on an avg day here i see about 10+ H3s compared to 1 or 2 H2s. so in my eyes, the H3 seemed like a big hit. BUT, one shore town in NJ doesn't represent the country as a whole.

and yes, i too read that GM was planning on selling the Hummer division.

Our janesville plant here in Wi. is closing . They build Tahoes , Burbs there. I heard they are closing 4 or 5 plants in all by 2010.

I have a friend who is a Chevy GM at a dealer , and said their little crew cab pick ups are selling pretty good with a lots of big truck trade in's. Don't know if there is any truth to that. I know the TB is hurting too .

GM officially announced it last week. Your coworker knows his news . They said that they were "analyzing Hummer's part in GM's future". That doesn't sound too good. I was listening to a show on NPR and the live audience went wild when they said no more hummers.

Do you really think that Hummer is just being driven 30 miles a week plus once gas prices really get high the Civic might be worth more money than the Hummer which are losing their resale value by the day.

Plus that's just one rare case since I know alot of people around here that are suffering using an H2 or even an H3 as their main vehicle.

It's not all that uncommon.

I have a lifted '06 Dodge Ram 37" Boggers, 4.56 gears, camper shell, winch, etc., etc....

I drive it maybe 800 miles a year, that's right, 800 miles (to the beach camping prolly once a month)...it gets 9 mpg (10 on a good day)...but there are a few other people I know who have "weekend" or "fun" vehicles.

Given the total mileage driven, I probably fill my tank 5 times each year.

I live 2 - 3 miles from the office (drive my Runner to work) and I fill my "commuter" runner probably once a month...it's annoying when these people who drive compact cars try to lecture me about my SUV...especially those who have a long commute (fill up weekly or more often) then tell me I'm driving up fuel prices with my gas guzzler (when in reality I use maybe 17 gals/month and they're using 50 gals/month).

Im pretty anti domestic, but i have enjoyed the look of the new dodges at times. I especially like the duallies with the fender lip that is a solid 8", but other than looks i dunno!
I guess driving urs <1000miles/year would keep it basicallly "new" feeling forever. compared to your 4runner how do you honestly feel about the BUILD QUALITY from an AMERICAN built truck compared to a JAPANESE built truck?

Thai , what motor is in the G ?

My G500 has the 5.0L V8. Fuel economy with the G ain't pretty. The big V8 + heavy as hell construction + brick aerodynamics = piss poor mpg. My G500 has a much smaller footprint than 4runner (and even FJ CRuiser) yet it weighs as much as Lexus LX570 (and more than Land Cruiser). So, this can't be good for fuel economy. In addition, my automatic tranny is only 5-speed, which used to be enough, but i sure wished that i had the 7-speed in the newer G for better highway mileage.

I have seen a lot of these articles as well. Lately I have been trotting around www.fueleconomy.gov and seeing what many vehicles get for mileage.

The 4Runner seems to be the best in anything comparable like the Explorer, Grand Cherokee, et al. Gets equivalent or better mileage than a lot of sedans - to include the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis, Ford Mustang, and a lot of others.

Just because it is an SUV - and not even a car-based SUV - does not mean that it has to get horrible gas mileage.

For instance a lotof articles report people buying smaller SUVs and crossovers like a Ford edge. Gets comparable or orse mileage than a T4R.

I love Jeeps, and they have been selling a lot of 4 door wranglers (which I admit are pretty cool) but the 4Runner gets better mileage and will arguably last longer - or at least as long.

Crossovers are not as great as they seem and this bugs me. For instance, Honda's new Pilot is getting worse mileage ratings than my T4R.

So the point of all this? At 22 and 18 mpg I feel pretty decent about my runnah and will likely keep it forever. No reason not to, unless you get a hybrid or something. Then again, I do toy with the idea of motorcycle too - but with all the morons out there on cell phones and texting each other at 50 mph+ I don't know if I can do it.
