So I decided to debadge my 00 Limited this weekend. Started out by removing the two 'Limited' decals just behind the rear doors. Did the dental floss thing and then pulled the glue off with my fingernail. I didn't really consider what I was doing next, as I tried to remove the glue with Goo-gone Extreme. It removed the glue, but I think it may have stripped the clearcoat off the surrounding area, either that or it stripped everything off down to the clearcoat and these are the only clean spots. Regardless, I hope a good washing, stripping, and waxing will make it look better, and I think I will use something less 'extreme' when I pull off the rear badges. I'll update this after I do a good cleaning of the whole exterior and let you know if things look better after.

its sounds like the sticker covered the paint keeping it new. its almost 6 yrs on your orignal paint so the rest of the body tends to fade due to weather/sun.

Actually, there is a spot all around it that looks different, so I think I either stripped the clearcoat or just the grime. Also, there is an ever-so-slight depression where the emblem was, so I think they must spray a final clearcoat over after they badge it. I will take some pics in a day or two, but it is not likely to show up. You have to be pretty close to even tell it's there. I will take after pics too if it goes away with clean-up (it will be a week or two on those).

They don't spray more clear after putting the badges on. It is normal for the paint under the badging to be raised and a lot shinier than the rest. You will need to polish the area to blend it in.
Short of using brake fluid or paint stripper, there are very few consumer available solvents that will strip cured urethane clearcoat.
