Debating over 80w SPP fog light install

I've had my 80w SPP yellow fog light bulbs for about a week now and am debating installing them. I bought the Hi-temp sockets from Autozone and would need to cut off my OE socket and intall these before I would put the bulbs in. I know its not rocket science but I'm just not 100% sold on cutting any original wiring. I have done many searches on these bulbs and found several old posts. Does anyone have any current experince with these bulbs that would convince me one way or the other on this intstall?

I have 80 watt Polar Yellow fog bulbs running on stock harness for 3 years now without any issues. I use them in fog or snow only though, just like fog light is intended to be used. If you want to ran yours all the time ala driving lights - get stock recomended 55 watt.

I was using some generic 70 bulbs. They lasted a year for me. I recently lost the left one. It was a nice yellow when it was working. I didn't realize that I should have been using 55W bulbs.

I ran the SP all the time for about 2 years and it melted my harness plugs :(

Id suggest going on ebay and picking up the hi temp plug and paly harnesses if you decide to run those bulbs.
