Thanks Luxury...the emblems that are mounted in a silver trimmed area appear to be a shiny greyed black, whereas the side and lower rear emblems are a darker black. At one point, I removed all the emblems, but have since put them back on with the exclusion of the spelled out 'TOYOTA' emblem on the drivers bum. I replaced it with a 'i-forceV8' emblem.

They have held up better than the black pearls I had on my '02 black Sport. Those chipped. When it comes time to touch them up, I will probably remove them again and paint them a more flat black hue. I am also looking for a JDM 'Surf' or 'SSR-X'. I found some on fleabay, but they were chrome.

Yes, the emblems are $$. You will probably have to sacrifice the two centered Toyota corporate emblems, as they have prongs that are recessed into position and a needle nosed pair of pliers was needed. I found afterward the torque applied by the pliers slightly bent the emblem, rendering it in my opinion, useless. The others, just remove them with a heat gun and dental floss. Might be hard this time of year in many locations.

I bought my set complete from an old/member dealer on this board who is no longer a participant.

You can attempt to do them yourself, take them to an auto bodyshop, or send me a PM and I will reveal the seller, as I don't know their status with the board mods. No, it was not NE.

Hard to tell how they will look on other colors. They blend in on black and they may have a different effect on other colors, especially the lighter colors.

They would look nice on white. Always liked white w/black trim.

Minimize Wind Noise

Mark86 - '05 Text and Arrows on outside of black rails...."Measuring from the top (the beginning of the actual roofrail from the rear), it is 5 7/8 inches and 33 inches"

BlkSS1755 - '03 white dots on the inner rails

tkr128 - '03 two silver dots (I have a black roof rack) .....it's on the inside of the two fixed rails.

Hitman - '04 small, black dots

Luxury - '03 Silver Rack w/ silver dot inside rail 11-13/16" from the front & 7-3/4" from the rear


I decided to check mine and found dots that are inside the actual rail. There were not located at the same lengths Mark found with his Dad's '05. Mine was about 11-13/16" from the front and 7-3/4" from the rear. Here is what the dots looks like and a couple of things I tried that didn't work out:

this is not even close to a "major electircal mod"...you ground one wire...no splicing no cutting or anything...perfectly safe and harmless. Wiring up a switch to this or tapping into the parking lights would be a major electircal modification, but just grounding one pin of a relay is not major.

it is a very simply and easily reversible mod...

the other mods you have done to your 4Runner (very nice btw) are more complicated than this one

Wow, you've got a detailed eye! I am constantly updating those first few posts and I didn't know if anyone noticed. I even go back and update posts within the rest of this thread. For instance, if I find new threads relevant to something I posted, I'll add the link, like I did for the Yakima racks post and the shackle hitch receiver post. Or if I find a better price or find out any new information. I doubt if anyone really notices that, but maybe when someone is checking it out for the first time or rereading the post it will help.

One of my main reasons for having the "Decided Against" mod list is so that I can get feedback exactly like 24runners. The other reason is to be able to save the link for myself and to be able to share it with others when they ask about it down the road. Because of 24runners feedback I bumped it up to my "To Do" mod list, but added "(but I'm going to wait until someone posts detailed instructions with pics)". The other reason, I originally had listed, is to wait for my warranty to be over, but this mod sounds minor enough that I'm not too worried about it anymore. I love your lists I keep referring to them to give me ideas *haha*...probably the most detailed mod list I have ever seen on any thread!

I will post more pics (the only thing I had with me at the time was my cell phone) and more detailed instructions....its just one wire..very simple

Cool, I'm really glad that someone else is getting some use out of them. I checked another one off the "To Do" list. A real minor one, but a common problem, that musty odor that we get out of the ventilation system. I just completed this tonight, so I don't know if it worked or not, but I'll let you all know when I know. The pictures show what I did. This large can of original scent Ozium was $4.99 at Pepboys.

OK, are you guys sick of my mini mods? Too bad, I'm posting it all!

I bought 2 pocket-sized pens to go in my JDM pen holder. Oh, and I got a full size one free. I ordered a TRD Suspension Short Pen based on sharp4runr's suggestion: click here to go to the copyrighted pic. I didn't get it from the website because they were going to charge me like $9 shipping. I ended up ordering it from my second closest dealer, Elmore Toyota for $9 to avoid the high shipping charge. They gave me the red pen below and steered me to a cheap little pocket pen, which I bought in case the TRD pen is too wide. I'll post pics of the TRD pen when I get it. The guy I ordered it from ordered another one for himself because he had one a while ago and loved it. And the other good news is that they will order JDM parts! Update: The TRD pen has been discontinued so I have to go back to get my money back.

After reading about your hoodscoop (in Galactic Grey or black, if you get it) in this thread, I wondered how you would be able to install it in your hood??

The shape of the hood itself is different on the Sport than the Limited/SR5. I don't think you can just add the scoop to your hood without having the sheetmetal changed.... I could be wrong though.

I believe you're going to have to swap the whole hood out to a Sport Edition hood for this to work.

I already have the entire sport hood, plus the grey scoop, and its two other components. I am however missing some nuts I believe. I haven't gotten it painted or installed it yet because I don't have much money right now. I may end up selling it. Sorry for the confusion, I must have posted something that wasn't very clear. Anyway, thanks for looking out.

No mod here but the pic does show an alternate use for the water bottle holders on our doors. I've also used the cupholders for larger vases.

However many are listed available on my previous post is what is left. I think there is like 3 generic rectangles ready for mailing. Unfortunately I had them at work....and I quit my job.....and they are buried in some box. But, if I can't find them easily, I'll gladly cut you a new rectangle and mail it off ASAP. I'm out of town for the weekend, so it may be a few days.

It won't be much trouble at all so don't worry about it. I was just wondering if I had enabled that email feature when I signed up.....and you answered that for me....I'll have to figure out how to change that option. PM is fine too (for your mailing address), I just prefer email because I dislike some of the PM limitations.

Good choice on the pen. I like the color. That reminds me, I need to go get my money back from the Toyota dealer I tried to purchase the TRD short pen from.......apparently it has been discontinued. How long is that Zebra Pen?

Thanks for sending me this set a while back. Before I had received yours I had picked up a black anodized pocket pen that I was using for a while. Despite being larger, the pen you sent looks a lot better in there. You are right, it really goes well with the interior. I chose the pen over the pencil, because it is a slightly better fit than the pencil (It has to do with the shape of the tip). It turned out that the anodized pen fit perfectly in my wallet and I have been using both all the time.
