Decided Against List & Debadging Rear

Bought With:

V8, Side Airbags, Navigation ('03 so no backup camera & seperate cargo area DVD unit), Grey Leather, Spoiler ('03 so no bump like most '05+), Moonroof, 6-disc Changer, Wireless Headphones, Tow Tongue & Pin, Preferred Accessory package, Carpet Floor Mats, Carpet Cargo Mat, Cargo Net, First Aid Kit (Mounted on Rear Seat Back), Wheel Locks?, Double-decker Cargo, Cargo Cover, 115V Outlet in Center Console (Here's three threads: 1 2 3 ), Homelink.


Decided Against:
  1. Rear T&H chrome Bar
  2. Sport Bumper Trim
  3. JAOS Center Protector (because of the price and because I like the shape of the T&H)
  4. JDM Taillights (because the Chrome Taillight Trim I ordered doesn't work with them)
  5. Taillight Covers (because I decided on the Chrome Taillight Trim)
  6. JDM Headlights (because I like the stock enough)
  7. Black out Headlights like iFORCE (because I like the stock enough, and this sounds a little tricky)
  8. JAOS Headlight Eyelids (because I made my own for free)
  9. Shuei Chrome Grill (because they stopped responding to my email & no returns)
  10. Dash Trim Kit (because of the price & uncertainty of appearance)
  11. Can Size Cup Holders (because the only quality design I could come up with would pose a risk to get some switches wet)
  12. Relocating Badges (because I like the clean look and it enables me to add other chrome accessories without it looking too cluttered)
  13. Chrome Trim around Windows & Pillar Post (because it would probably be too much with all my other chrome accessories)
  14. Adding Rear Fogs or more Brake/Turn/Backup Lights (because I'm not comfortable splicing into electrical lines)
  15. TRD Leather Seats (because it is too much of a luxury to replace perfectly good leather)
  16. Power Folding Mirrors (because it is probably too expensive for me to justify, especially since I don't parallel park very often)
  17. HIDs (because it is just too much work for the benefit IMO)
  18. Engine Start Button like Prius (because no-one has figured it out, plus it would probably be a PITA)
  19. 4runner PC (because I'm happy enough with my nav)
  20. Rain Gutter Mesh Grill Insert (because I don't want my fron to be too busy with my other accessories and the fine mesh I like might block the air to radiator too much)
  21. Fog Lights Behind Lower Grill (because I think they would look better on my Bull Bar, which would also block the lights)
  22. Bug Guards (because I'm not a big fan of the look of them, but they're growing on me)
  23. Other Brands of Rubber Floor Mats (because I like the Toyota fit, color, & appearance)
  24. Replacing Interior bulbs with LED (too much work and risk for me)

  33. LED Turn Signals (because I have blind spot mirrors on there and I don't want my nice big mirrors to get too crowded)
  34. Chrome the Silver Bumper Pieces (I guess I decided it isn't worth the effort to get them on/off & the $$$$; plus I think it might be attached to the grey piece on the top of the bumper)

  36. Nav Mods (Debating if it's worth the time & $) Nav Video thread
  37. Dual Exhaust (the link isn't the best thread, still contemplating if I want to spend the money on this)
  38. Anyone want to remove their XREAS & want to sell it to me?(Probably won't do unless the guy that was going to sell me his will do it for really cheap.......or I have more money at that time)
  39. 115V Switch (Maybe for bull bar lights) = $39 (it was hard to locate an looks like it will be more expensive and will require modification, so I think I will go with the Tacoma fog switch if I need one)
  40. Re-fix moonroof rattle (because a couple people have tried over an over to get theirs fixed and it still makes noise)
  41. TRD Suspension Short Pen for Dash Holder from sharp4runr's suggestion: this one (Elmore Toyota said it is discontinued an online shipping is too much)
  42. Dye my stained grey floor mats black(because the only dyes I found said not to be used with rubber/plastic backed fabrics)

Pics are a little far away, but you get the idea.

I also debadged the V8 symbol from the grill. I didn't post any pics because if you are curious about it, you should just go out there and try it out by clipping it off from behind the grill. It is about the easiest change you can do to a 4runner.

Nice Pictures... I'm thinking about getting the chrome handles but I'm wondering how it would look on my Galatic Gray 4Runner?

Thanks. I did post one of my interior, but I don't think that really counts. It was a pic of my camera charging cradle in my center console just as a passing comment. I think I will copy a version of it here too. Has anyone had their cd changer lid is stuck open? It will close half-way, but no more.

Update 5/27/05: I no-longer use this charger because I returned/upgraded that camera in favor of new Casio EX-Z750. I bought an extra battery and travel charger, so have simply been taking the extra battery now. Not that I really need it very often.....this camera has incredible battery life! Oh, and my CD changer is still stuck open like that because my local Toyota Stealer is horrible at fixing things the first time.

How do you have a plug in the center console?? Is that something you had to add later on?? I could use something like that.
 
115V+12V+Battery+Jumper+Compressor+Light

I believe it is the stock location for the 110V outlet in the Limited. Other people have added 110V, but I don't think they added it in the center console. I am also thinking about getting this combo unit. Costco.com and Sears currently carry it for $89.99. Click HERE to go to a good website discussing Inverter FAQs. Update 12/26/04: I saw in the paper this morning that Kragen had what looked like this same one for $69 on sale. I actually got a different one then this as a gift that our local Costco was carrying. It is flatter so it fits under the DD cargo and it was $78.99 I think. I'll create a new post with pics and details soon.

Tow Hitch Brake Light Details

The first pic shows that it sticks out a little bit, but they were nice enough to provide a spacer that fills in the gap and keeps it from rattling.

The second pic shows the Hitch and Trailer Lock I bought from Wal-Mart for $20. FYI, at my Pep Boys it's $25. The hitch lock is already installed, which is the reason for the blank spot in the package.

So the third pic isn't the cleanest looking thing, to say the least. For this reason alone, I may only have this installed part time, for long late drives and the such. You can't notice it much, but I am a bit picky about these types of things. A little electrical tape will help some, but I don't like the idea of leaving this adapter in all the time. I have the light itself locked in, but this adapter, which cost ($21 @ Pepboys) double what the light did, could just be pulled out. The adapter is pretty sweet in that it allows for two different types of connections for future towing. It converts from the Limited's stock connector to a 4 wire connector and a circular pin connector.

The extension wire ($9 @ Pepboys) for the 4 wire connector has some sort of frame grounding seperate wire, that I didn't realize when I bought it, but I connected it in the normal place.

My original idea was to tap into the point where the connector on my limited Y's into two other connectors under the runner about a foot back. But after opening those connectors and checking for it at pep boys, I didn't find it. Right now, it all easily disconnects, but is a little cumbersome and obtrusive. At least I am set for a lot of future towing needs.

Does anyone have any suggestions, that don't involve splicing into the wires?

Drycleaning Bar

Here's my $10 drycleaning bar from Wal-Mart:

Update: CLICK HERE for another option that would just carry one jacket, which would probably be a good option for someone that wears a coat more oftern than I do. I have also now attached a pic of what the bar looks like with some clothes on it. It works wonderful! This is a must have at $10. Note that with the seat up you get added dangle height.

Drycleaning Bar Details

I wanted to be able to hook it on the rear hooks also, but hook and metal loop don't like to play together. There is probably a way to attach it there, but I don't really have a need. There also isn't as much vertical hang space in the back. It appears that if a bar was in the back too, then maybe this could be a super cheap ski/snowboard/fishing pole rack. But, I already have some Yakima's from my Mustang that I am going to get different mounting clips for.

Name "Luxury" says it all. You sure like adding new stuff to your 4Runner. Many great ideas and the best thing is that all of them are here.....with pictures!!! :thumb:
