Decision time - possibly selling '97 4Runner

My wife and I have decided that it's time to get rid of one of the cars. If we can sell the BMW, I can modify the 4Runner - new shocks/struts (lifted of course) and some other toys. If we can only sell the 4Runner, I will trade the BMW in for a '10 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I love my 4Runner, but we don't need 3 vehicles anymore.

'07 BMW 530i, 6 speed manual and only 11,500 miles

Any thoughts?

Yeah, trade that 07 for my 97 4runner. you'll never have to do another mod, then you can sell your 4runner! two birds with one stone my friend, 2 birds with one stone :bigok:

i also own a bmw, 328xiT 2008. hands down i'll dump the bmw before the toyota, and im a die hard bmw fan. once the bimmers are out of warranty youre up sh*ts creek in costs. the 4runner wont ever fail you, and if there are costs they are minimal. when i trasde my bmw in its going to be for a used sequoia of the current generation...cant go wrong with 2 toyotas in the garage.

You do not want anything Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep....seriously man, its all garbage! I owned 4 different Jeeps in the past, and all of them had there problems at some point. My dad is a Jeep guy as well, and they are always in the shop. My one buddy is a Jeep guy, same thing..always something to fix. The only thing I had to do to my 98 4Runner since I have owned it (18 months) is replace the windshield wipers, License plate bulb, and front brakes. Get yourself an FJ if want something along that line. Just my .02 cents!

Granted BMW is a great car the Toyota will run longer with less problems, and be cheaper to maintain.

Whats the 3rd car, why not sell it? You drive the 3rd gen and wifey gets the bimmer(which of course you can still drive).

Have quite a few friends with Jeeps. You'll be missing your Toyota sooner than you think if you switch. Plus as to the jeep repairs etc. Keep this acronym in mind: Just Empty Every Pocket.

IMO you should keep the runner and forget about getting a jeep. The runner will never let you down. If you are trying to save money, getting the jeep will do the opposite.

the 3rd vehicle is the '08 Sequoia Limited. Perfect for our family.

it's true, the Bimmer can be expensive to fix once it runs out of warranty. My wife and I never drive so it's a complete waste of money. We've had it up for sale for a few months now, and have only gotten 1 serious inquiry.

Thanks for all the feedback. As always it's personal preference.

Let me echo what has already been said. I have owned 3 jeeps before...2 were Saharas....both had to have exhaust manifolds before 90k. I had problems with them all the time and I never took them off road. Although I do love Jeeps...they are fun vehicles...but once I bought my 4Runner earlier this year I am pretty sure that I will only drive 4Runners from now on.
