I'm looking to purchase a dedicated snow tire for my 4Runner (size 265/65R/17). Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking at tirerack.com and a few come up. Hopefully this link works.

Searching by size (265/65/17) versus vehicle model always seems to get me more results on tirerack for some odd reason.
Personally I'd recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak DMV-1. However you would have to jump up to a 265/70/17 to get them.
Staying in a 265/65/17 I'd go with either the General Alitmax Artic or the Continental Extreme Winter Contact both are excellent winter tires.

I had planned on having seperate summer and winter tires as well, but after trying my Duratracs in the snow/ice, it doesn't make sense to get winter tires anymore, and have to deal with changeovers, and storing an extra set of wheels/tires. They are severe winter rated, and do very well on the packed ice we deal with 1/2 the year. You might want to take a closer look at them.

Live in North Dakota. If you're going to use a dedicated winter tire get the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1. These tires are amazing. Have a dedicated winter set use only.

I put them on late October and run them through late Mar or early April.

You must rotate them out in Spring because they wear out quicker if you leave on dry pavement
