Does anybody know where to find an extra deep transmission pan? I just got my tranny rebuilt and im looking to do a few little upgrades, including a auxiliary tranny cooler and extra deep pan. But i cant find the deep pan for my 2002 4wd (A340f) transmission. Is anyone running one of these or know where to buy one?

Thanks, Raymond.

I haven't been able to locate one either. From what I've found...there is very little aftermarket support for our transmission!! Heck, it's hard enough just finding someone willing to work on them in my area!

Good luck...

Hire a welder to custom make your pan into a "deep" or high capacity pan, or you can add something called a swirl pot or external resevoir to Hold more fluid. place it in line with one of your cooler lines. I would make one custom out of an old fire extinguisher or something. Make sure you add a drain for oil changes.

Or you could just change the fluid more often *shrugs

If you aren't putting a bunch of power down or towing heavily and often you don't really need it.

The A340 is pretty stout, not like many American made transmissions that s*** the bed under normal use.

I'd ditch the larger pan idea (could hit something easier if ya' 4x4) and instead consider this little tranny upgrade (Magnefine - about $12 on ebay/amazon):

Yea i was woried about clearance when wheeling. Ill check that out though, i mean only $12 what do i have to lose. Ill install it when i do the atf cooler. I wonder what effect an additional cooler and filter will have on the atf flow or pressure? Any thoughts?

Good question. Well its designed for this explicit purpose, has a relief valve - I've used one for nearly 80,000 miles (changed it at 50k) and have had no problems. Trans fluid comes out looking pink and translucent like it went in. An end screws off so you can inspect the remains. Luck!

I looked on ebay and Amazon and the only magna fine was $30. But there was wix and raybestos tranny filters for about $15, anybody have any thoughts or experience with the quality of these filters? Ive known wix to be credible brand, amsoil sells their products and im always satisfied with amsoils products.
