deep water, 4runner shuts off

when i go threw water usually deeper than 2ft as soon as i let off the gas the truck shuts off. when i start it back up in order to keep it running i have to rev it up a little bit untill whatever got wet dries out. does anybody kno whats getting wet and how do i stop it? cuzzzzz i dont ahah

i crawl thru it usually. i try to avoid mud, its not really what my little 4cyl likes
