Hello guys! I've been creeping on here for a while now and i decided to finally make a build thread of my own. Bare with me as the build will most likely be going slow after all I am a Biochemistry major with quite the workload and preparing for my MCAT to get into medical school. The 4runner isn't my only vehicle so i can go without it so the building process "should" go a little more smoothly. I also have a 2011 Camaro SS RS and a 1993 Nissan 240sx drift missile, so I say i quite enjoy the automobile world. Anyway that's enough about that let me get to the 4Runner.

It's a 1999 SR5 that was originally black. It has 185,000 original miles and I bought it super cheap as the previous owner center lined a telephone pole, Is still clean titled. My father owns a garage, a body shop and car dealership so I thankfully have room and help along the way for my build. This is the state I got the 4runner in a few months ago. As you can see I already started the tear down process.

So skip forward a few weeks and I had it in our body shop, as it needed a lot of work. I sourced a lot of the parts from OEM keystone as it's what we use for dealership cars that need work. They look great and you cant beat the price point. Also during this time i did a full timing belt job and some odds and ends things to be sure it was all in working order. I also did a duel battery set up, and upgraded the alternator to a 130 from a caddy instead of the puny 80 from the factory. I also bought a 2002 roll over for a parts Runner so i could steal front motor components from where mine was smashed. Also copped a vented hood from it so that was sweet I thought.

After all the body work was finished, I had to decide what color to paint. I feel like factory colors are a little boring in general, don't get me wrong some look freaking majestic. I just want something that catches your eye as a little different and definitely my own style. I love black so It's only natural i decided to spray it a really cool (in my opinion) 2 stage satin black. I'm going for a murdered look after all so why not.

Also I didn't say this but feel free to give input & advice, it's my build and I'm doing it how I want but direction never hurts. This build is based on Ripcord's 1st and 2nd, LoudRunner, Scrambler and other OG's of the site. I'm super excited and maybe I can bring something to the table for this forum as all of you have done.

It's good you want to do something "your own" style. Here in CA every other hot rod or tuner or maserati is satin black, so its become rather passe. But as I used to tell others when they criticized the color choice of one of my customers, if you want it another color, build one your self!

Personally, I want shiny paint.

I wish my dad had a body shop when I was a bio chemistry major! Oh wait, I had my own shop instead...

Oh wow, yea here where I live you never see a satin car. But I also live in Middle Tennessee so I'm sure in Cali with so many more people it's bound to happen. That's also awesome you had your own shop, As being a life long student I am not able to afford such a thing haha. My Cellular and Comparative Biochemistry class is kicking my butt right now, I couldn't imagine working and running a shop on top of it. Will do on the pics!
 
Well Cleaned the 4runner today and took a pic with one of dad's toys. finally got my tax returns because my family has an accountant and it's all bundled with the business so we always get them late. I'm 99% I'm going with the ToyTec 3" and ordering my wheels and tires. It should all be here in 2 weeks as I'll buy the lift in the next few days. Can't Wait!

 
Can anyone say if they have had any problems with ToyTec? I filled out a dealer request on Monday and have called and left a message every day since. I'm getting pretty aggravated with it to be honest. I've never had this hard of a time trying to give people money and business in the future with costumers wanting us to install lifts from them. Picture just for fun.
