I drive a 2005 sr5 4runner with only 88k miles..
This car was passed down to me by the folks several months ago. I felt this in the car before i gotten it. Ivisit them out of state in Colorado and had felt this then & now.
This only happens when driving moderatley at an average speed, then as you come to a stop still pressing on the brake until the green light comes up (Then a quick thump or others say clank) felt in What seems like the trani area. It almost feelslike a car bumps you from the back right when you release the brake.
Now this only happens when coming to a stop and or coming out of one( rolling into a stop, then followed by a thump or clank. And when rolling or stopping quickly, while pressing on the brake andupon release you get a clank or thump). This will happen from what i noticed on how you drive the car. I mean if you drive softly and roll into a stop slow or leaving from a stop You Dont Get a Clank. But if you drive fast enough and come to a hard brake you will 90% of the time get a clank.
This only happens what seems like from stop and into first gear and down shifting right before stopping. Other than that the car rides fine. All other gears seem to shift fine and normal, except around 1st into or from 1st gear.
I had the oil changed and trani oil + filter changed.
I took it to a yota shop only and all we can come up with is that most likely its a bad transmission or soon to be.
