Local dealership in Santa Maria, CA can't get to my 4Runner for 15000 service for 7 days. Maintenance light is on and we are scheduled for a 1000 mile trip next week. Other dealerships are 45 min away. Looks like I need to change my own oil. Any suggestions? Toyota filter, Mobile 1, torque value of drain?, does it use a crush washer? OK to reuse washer? Most importantly, will my changing oil affect the warranty? Thanks

Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 filter.
Never seen a drainplug on any vehicle I've owned that you had to replace the drainplug seal on unless it was physically damaged or really old.
Torque, PDT is what I use (Pretty Damn Tight) Ask the Awful Zone or O'Screwme's counter guy if their computer gives a torque value for the drainplug if you're unsure. As a mechanic I feel it out myself, I rarely need a torque wrench unless I'm tightening critical components like conrods or cylinder heads etc.
You changing your own oil does not void your warranty. But I would save the reciepts for the materials with your other maintenance records, with the mileage and date written on the bottom of the reciept, just in case it's ever questioned.

Mobil 1 Oil, Toyota V-8 Filter. Thats what I do. I did not change my crush washer until 50k. It never leaked. Tighten it until it is good and snug, Do not use a 1/2" breaker bar to tighten it. 1000 thousand over on the Oil change is no problem. Especially if you are already running Mobil 1.
