Demello vs. ARB Bumpers

I thought I would start some discussion between the two bumpers so maybe manufacturers might have a little more reference and input for design.

Here is the Demello;

I really like the Demello bumper, but it could really use a finishing piece at the top like on the ARB. It can hide and clean the look around the top all the way around to the side panel.

The ARB one looks awesome but protrudes out a little too far, the 4Runner is a little long to begin with.

So far I like the Demello better, but the ARB incorporates the fogs and turn signals which is a plus. The ARB also has plash plates that protect the washer bottle and other bits that hang lower on the 4runner. If Demello adds those features it will be a no-contest...

All you have to do then is tell the guys at demello what you want and I'm sure they can add it for you. They do custom stuff all the time.

I actually like that ARB!? The first picture I saw of it musta been a "funny angle" (voice of Tyrone from Snatch). I may just have to convince the wife into getting one...

It all boils down to personal opinion. Both bumpers are great. I had the ARB on my FJ so I am geared more to that style but when I did a FJ Cruiser meet and greet I seen several FJs with the DO Bumper and it was very nice as well. I am going to get a lift 1st and then decide by next year which one I will get. We will see what other companys jump on board the front bumper for the 5th gen ie, All Pro Off Road

I hate them both. No offense to either the people who designed them or anyone who buys them, but they both look the same, they both ruin the lines of the 5th Gen front end, they are both just carry-overs from the same old designs of the past, and the ARB in particular is going to cause clearance problems for anyone trying to turn head on into a parking space.

There has to be a better way to increase the approach angle, maintain the use of the foglights and turn signals, and provide a winch mount without turning the front end into a Frankenstein mix of standard bullbar angles and hacked up plastic.

Maybe my perception is being distorted by how complete the TE with the ARB looks in comparison to the SR5 with thin stock tires, low to the ground, and overall weak looks.

Taking all the mentioned out of the equation I find the Demello has potential but my vote goes for the ARB. Demello has great looking FJ bumpers and I hope that this is a working progress towards a more aggressive bumper. GO big or GO home. Anyone in the market for this type of bumper means business. I much appreciate the grill protection provided by the Demello but prefer the headlight protection provided by the ARB.

An aftermarket steel bumper would do that....

There are aspects of both bumpers that I like. Demello is low profile, has shackle mounts, protects the grill, and doesn't protrude too forward. ARB incorporates the fog lights and turn signals and has splash guards.

Because Demello is close to me I will most likely ask him to fabricate a custom grill incorporating the aspects I like from both bumpers. Since this won't happen until mid to late next year I'm hoping Shrockworks will make a bumper that has aspects I can incorporate also into my custom bumper. In my opinion, custom is the way to go to get it exactly how you want it. Crossing my fingers Jason can make this happen.
