Dension ICELink

A couple of guys on the Lexus board has installed the VIAS unit and they are happy with it. So it is done, not sure if they have stock though.

Dension has been promising the ICElink for Toyotas for something like 6 months now. I have waited and waited, then ordered the NEO, installed it and used it for 4 months now and they still have not produced the goods.

I work at best buy as a mobile installer, and I haven't put in one of these dension units into a toyota yet, not mine because I have no ipod... but from I know, The dension Icelink runs off the Mbus link in the back of the headunit, The only one that might have issues with this dension icelink unit would be the ones with Navigation if I remember correctly. I'll double check when I get the chance...

Have you heard anything yet? I went to their website and didn't see this announcement.

I'm curious also if the Icelink unit will provide text into the HU of the JBL 10 speaker system, without NAV.

I saw the announcement on their website a week or so ago but now I can't find it. I don't know if I'm just not looking in the right place or they decided it was too buggy to start selling.

I have the original ICELink, and no, it does not display text. I think it's more of a limitation of the original ICELink, and not the headunit.

I had read somewhere that the Denison requires you to create special playlists on the iPod for it to work with. The poster had said it was a bit of a pain to have to make the playlists, and he'd wished it wasn't necessary. Is this still true - did you have to do something similar?

I remember reading about another connector doing that, but the ICELink I have does not require it, and as far as I can tell, the ICELink Plus does not require it either.

I just bought a 2005 4Runner Sport with the 10 spk JBL and 6 disc changer. I have been seraching EVERYWHERE online and have yet to find a single ipod kit that will allow me to use my Ipod without losing my cd changer. So --- the Dension IceLink actually lets your CD changer work too??? Thats awesome. The question is, why doesn't Dension list one available for the 2005 4Runner? Only the 04 and 03...


As far as the 04 and 03 being the same as the 05 --- I heard there was one major difference in the audio system between these vehicles. Apparently, starting in the 05 model the audio system now uses digital signals as opposed to analog signals. Can anyone confirm this? I am assuming this means that the 03/04 IceLink will not work in a 2005. Has anyone installed one in a 2005 yet?
