dent in my chrome bumper

any ideas as to how to get it out? its from one of those little short yellow posts they have in parking lots, etc...

im thinking about pulling the bumper and tapping it out from inside...what should i use to do this? if i damage it, its only $100 or less for a new one so im not worried about it...

I didnt think about the heat, but I was thinking about using something wood or something like a baseball to hit, so theres no dimples...thanks for the input! keep it coming people!!!

i also have a dent in my chrome bumper, but im sure mine is alot bigget than some pole, a few years back i was rear ended and surface rust is now growing, i am soon to take the bumper off, gring the rist off and paint it, but the good thing for me is the rust is on the backside and not on the body, im going to do this when it gets warmer.

if u guys know anything i would alsolike to know,

i wouldnt plan on using heat, i would think it would change the color of the nice chrome to a weird brown or discolor the bumper.

Heat it from the inside it's usually the direct flame that discolors the bumper.

ill do a full write up on removing the bumper to removing and patching rust

cool, that would be GREAT! my dent is fairly small like an inch wide and about 3 inches long...one of the chrome side panels has a small dent too...

man thats nothing, i have a smash in a foot long and 4 inches high, so i want to get rid of it...

If you manage to discolor the bumper there may be a solution. Stores that sell golf club components sell a bottle of liquid that removes the burn discoloration you get on irons when you heat them to remove the shaft. It might work on a bumper also.

well, thanks guys! my dad parked out side like he allways does but he parked behing me on the driveway, but he slept in 30 min and didn't leave early... so me parking in the gauge I opend the door and started to backout! couldn't see it!

dammage, back left mud guard is cracked
on the car the front fender is dented bad and the parking light got ripped out...

Ya, I parked my car at school one day for my first class at 7:35. My friend met me at 8:15 after class, and he asked what happened to my bumper. I went out at 8:20, and theres a dent in the corner of my chrome bumper that looks like a baseball was thrown in it, but obviously some douche bag nailed it while he was pulling out from behind me and drove away because there were whtie marks.

I don't care enough to pay a lot of money to fix it, but if it was to be fixed, how much do you guys think it would be?

well i had some body pannels fxed and i asked them about the bumper, they said they wouldnt do it, too hard..

but since im off school im willing to take my car apart for a few days and mess with it
