Denver Area - Red Cone, Saturday, Aug 22nd

My wife and I are planning on running Red Cone Pass this Saturday, August 22nd. If anyone here is interested in joining, I was thinking of meeting at the King Soopers parking lot in Aspen Park around 10am. We could do Red Cone to Radical Hill to either Deer Creek, Saints John, or North/Middle Fork.

I "might" be able to make this, already somewhat have plans to hit the Glenwood Springs area, if that falls through, Im there.
 
Which one of these trails is harder and longer? I'm interested in running one of them. I'm up here working until November, with weekends off, so let me know. I was planning on off roading this weekend, but I only know 1 trail.:awais:

There are a bunch of trails that intersect between Breck, Keystone/Montezuma, and Hwy 285. I've read that Red Cone is not very difficult but that there is a long, steep descent in one section that might leave you white-knuckled. Radical Hill takes you up the next mountain where you can choose between several trails to take you to either Breck to the West, or Montezuma to the North. I just did a solo run with a buddy from Montezuma to Breck via Saints John and North Fork of the Swan River. Even a stock 4Runner shouldn't have issues with any of these trails.

How long does that take to get to from Denver? Availabilty of gas?
 
Count me in! I'll need an address for the meeting place, so I can put it in my GPS. I'm coming from way over here by Sterling.

No, I'm 2-way radio guy. :sobbing: I need to buy a hand-held CB like Glen has at some point at least. But I do have three, 2-way radios so the non-CB guys can stay in the loop.

Ric, when will you know if you are going to Glenwood or not?

I'll call you tomorrow evening. Looks like I may have to work this Saturday. I'll know tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm off every weekend and ready to go!
