Someone saw a press presentation from Toyota from NAIAS 2016? Saw all others but it appears Toyota is MIA.

That's because Toyota is saving the best for last. They are going to release that they are dropping all their models and will only be selling this:
God the new Prius is ugly, someone tie a steak around it's neck so the dog will get in it.

I dunno, I think if you look at it from the right angle the Prius is decent looking....like when you're checking your mirror and you can't see the interior of the prius you're driving in at all...and there isn't another prius following you either.
See....that is one fine looking prius mirror.
Its all about framing the prius and getting the angles right.

in 15 trims that don't do anything and one plug-in model that now gets 15 electric miles!

From the coverage I have seen, it appears that Toyota is not releasing any new models at the Detroit auto show (not including Lexus) as the press portion is over. What is the next auto show where concepts are shown and new models are revealed? For those of us who are waiting on the reveal of the next 4R to make some decisions, beyond the obvious, I am assuming there is a point that we will know with near certainty that nothing new is coming out for ’17. Can anyone recall the latest that Toyota has released a new model in recent years?

Yes, the Tacoma 3rd gen was announced last year at Detroit Auto Show.
For the 4Runner, will should see next week if Toyota shows a 2017 4Runner still 5th gen. That will confirm the 6th gen for 2017 or even later.

The next two big shows are Chicago (generally refered to a the "truck show") and New York. If we haven't seen it by then it will probably be a 2017 year (2018 model year) redesign and will likely be shown in the fall. Toyota has mixed it up with new model reveals, even showing them first at state fairs and music festivals so it is hard to say. I didn't see it at Detriot so I just bit the bullet and bought a 2016.
Sorry, but why next week?
I'm hoping to see an announcement at Chicago, though, they are listing the 2016 model in their website.

Next week is the public part of Detroit show. If someone there see a 5th gen 2017 4Runner, then for sure the 6th gen would be 2018 or later.

Just got back from the Detroit Auto Show. Not much new from the Toyota exhibit. New Prius and some mobility and tech displays. There was a Mag Gray TRD Pro that was on display (that you could not get in) and a 2016 LC (that you could get in) and the SEMA LC (it was locked). Lots of Camry's, Prii and Corollas.
I was there yesterday also! Don't forget they had the Tonka SEMA 4R there also.
I was able to get a Toyota LED flashlight and a Toyota reusable shopping bag.
I though the Nissan offload "raptor" clone was interesting. They also has the new Nissan Cummins Diesel half-ton there too. Seems pretty refined inside.

Yes, forgot about the Tonka Runner! The Titan XDs and the XD Warrior Concept were interesting. The Titan XD seems to split the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks (leaning toward 1/2 ton) and I like the integrated goose neck and the Cummins TD.
The Ford Supercrew Raptor looked great and the color they showed it in would look great on the 4Runner TRDP (IMO).
It was a good show overall.
