DFW / Bridgeport Northwest OHV - May 21st

Hey guys - looking for peeps in the DFW area. A good buddy of mine (with a 2WD T4R) and I are thinking about taking our 5 year old sons for a day (or maybe just a half-day) of light wheeling, and overnight camping. Curious on two things...

One - is anyone interested in joining up out there for a few hours? This would be my first time wheeling, so I plan to keep it light and simple, but wouldn’t mind some more experienced members around as well.

And two - does anyone know (or have first hand experience) on the camping experience out there? We were just looking for something fun to do with the boys for a night. I figure if we went here, at least we could “wheel” for a few hours and keep them entertained a bit rather than just sitting around.

Any thoughts or opinions on either point?

A few years back, the TRDParts4u group took a bunch of TTR members and Blue room guys out there, however, we did not camp at the off road park. We, instead, stayed at Lake Bridgeport. Considering you are taking the little ones, this might be an enjoyable alternative.

I would go with you guys but I will be in Lubbock that weekend.

Thanks! Yeah, that’s actually my “plan B” as well... I think the park only limits camping to specific weekends anyhow. But figured we could just head up the road to Lake B instead (which might have been a better idea/plan in the first place). My buddy is checking out a few ideas on his end, and Bridgeport was/is my idea (since I could obviously combine some dirt time in the T4R). We aren’t making a final decision for another week or so. Thought I’d just put some feelers out...

Thanks! Yeah, that’s actually my “plan B” as well... I think the park only limits camping to specific weekends anyhow. But figured we could just head up the road to Lake B instead (which might have been a better idea/plan in the first place). Have you considered going up to Oklahoma. I know its a little bit of a drive, however, there are a ton of things to do up there and I am sure the kiddos would have a blast. Broken Bow and Beavers Bend are places my Dad and I went to often and its very nice. Again, it is a little further, but well worth it. Bridgeport is fun, but the area is geared to bigger, more advanced rigs in my opinion. I am not saying its not fun, but I think your friend in the 2wd might not have as much fun. In Oklahoma, the areas are older logging roads that may not present such a challenge for his limited vehicle.

It’s definitely interesting... I’ve only just now started (researching) places to take my son, mainly since he is really only now getting to the age where he'll have fun going to do something like this. My wife is from OK tho, so she is constantly shooting out ideas/places as well.

I’m not too worried about Bridgeport... Even if we do go there, I don’t think we’d wheel his 2WD at all (not smart). We probably would have piled into my TEP and hit some lighter trails, so the boys could experience a little off-roading.
